Vnet/IPVnet/IP is the IEEE 802.3 compliant, dual-redundanthigh-speed (1Gbps) control network. All thecomponents of the Vnet/IP network are connected tothe Layer 2 switches. Layer 2 switches are requiredfor each of the dual redundant networks. One of the

dual-redundant networks (called Bus 1) is exclusivelyused for process control communication. The other(called Bus 2) is used not only for process controlcommunication redundant with Bus 1, but also forthe open communication with the generic Ethernetprotocol.

Using Layer 3 switches, the Vnet/IP can be divided intoseveral domains. VI702 the NIC (Network InterfaceCard) for Vnet/IP is required for each PC, which isconnected to the Vnet/IP. Commercially availableproducts are used for all other network equipment suchas switches, LAN cables, or repeaters.

    Layer 2 Switch

This is the COTS (Commercial off-the-shelf) switchequipment. At least two switches are mandatory for oneVnet/IP system. The transmission speed for Vnet/IPhas to be 1 Gbps.

    Jun. 1, 2010-00

Layer 3 SwitchThis is the COTS switch with the routing function, andcan divide the Vnet/IP network into several domains.

    V net Router

This is the equipment to connect a Vnet/IP systemand a V net system. This router enables the HIS ofboth Vnet/IP and V net to operate the FCS of the othersystems.

    The following product is available.

AVR10D: Duplexed V net Router (for redundant useof communications and power supplymodules)

For information on the hardware specifications, seeDuplexed V net Router (GS 33L50D30-40E).

SNTP ServerThe time of all the components connected to theVnet/IP network is synchronized. By connecting the

COTS SNTP server on the Vnet/IP network, the timeof Vnet/IP components can be synchronized with UTC(Coordinated Universal Time).

Peripherals DevicePlease use compatible models of the peripheraldevices, such as printers, which support the designatedOperation Systems. Consult with a Yokogawasales department for more information about thosecompatible devices with HIS.

Vnet/IP NETWORK SPECIFICATIONSThe Vnet/IP is a real-time process control network used to connect system components. The Vnet/IP supportstwo types of communications: control-bus communications and open communications. The Vnet/IP is always dual-redundant. Usually, control bus communications are carried out via bus 1. Open communications are carried out viabus 2. If a control communications error occurs on bus 1, control bus communications will be carried out via bus 2.The Vnet/IP uses general-purpose communications devices for network connection.
