Monsters of Rock ‘87 TOPGRAPHICSON A VERY SMALL FORMAT

These labels portray graphic design on a very

small format. Some are beautifully basic, others

intriguingly complex. Admire the different materials

and the various techniques used. The label

number corresponds with the number of the t-shirt

it belongs to. Note that there are a number of

labels without corresponding shirts, marked w.c.t.

In these cases the label was found to be more

interesting than the t-shirt.

AcknowledgementsA special thanks to all the warm-hearted, patient, and zany collectors that we met on our search for top graphics! Without this wonderfully diverse group of individuals whose ages and interests were as varied as their cultures, this book would not have been possible. Thank you for opening up your homes and attics to us, thank you for taking us back to the days you wore your favourite tops – and most of all thanks for sharing your t-shirt love! In addition we would like to express thanks to all the known and unknown designers featured in Top Graphics. Without their creativity and talent it would have been impossible to make this book. We are very sorry it has not been possible to include all their names – unfortunately we haven’t been able to track them all down! Some of them are unknown and others indecipherable! We would finally like to say thanks to our friends and family who supported us, and helped us out with words of wisdom, clever ideas, and pictures. Thanks everyone!

AngeloA.N.G.E.L.O. Vintage Palace:A business that started more than twenty years ago when the second-hand bug was still relatively new, Vintage Palace is not afraid of the already worn: clothes with a history of their own. Here they encourage the adaptation of clothes to suit each wearer. The value and attraction of these pieces is wholly unique, the style they create is so much more than ‘fashion’. Second-hand clothes generate a look that is stamped with individual memories, history and culture. At Vintage Palace clothes become priceless: value is dictated by emotion, not cash. The intangible is more important than the visible.
