Spend some quality time with the Guaranty Travelers in beautiful Borrego Springs California. Mark the dates in ink on the calendar for March 5 through 9, 2020. We will gather for springtime desert fun at Palm Canyon Hotel and RV Resort. Four nights and three activity days. Your rally fee covers parking, meals and activities at the Borrego Springs rally. We will have our own meeting hall for meals and activities.

Surrounding the city of Borrego Springs is the Anza Borrego Desert State Park. The largest state park in America covering over 1,000 square miles. The mountains rise straight up from the desert floor and at night, the stargazing is some of the best in the country. Borrego is California’s first dark sky community, the nearest stop light is fifty miles away.

Activities will include a field trip to the Anza Borrego State Park Visitor Center. Nearly two –thirds of this 600,000 acres are pristine wilderness, sheltering an astonishing proliferation of plant and animal life including the Peninsular bighorn sheep. The park is named after the Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza and the Spanish name Borrego or bighorn sheep. The visitor center offers an introductory film to the area’s history and geology. The displays are world class and the building has been constructed partially underground for natural temperature control and features a garden

of native plants above on its rooftop.

An early morning hike is planned up Palm Canyon. A 3-mile round trip hike covers both flat ground and boulders. Yearly this trail

changes with the water flow and can be a surprise; it travels through a beautiful valley that leads to a wonderful natural palm grove and clear sparkling springs. We will make this an early morning trip to enjoy the cooler weather and the chance of viewing a bighorn sheep.

We have morning hikes and a spectacular evening trip to Fonts Point.

Arriving by four-wheel vehicles, we will enjoy the outstanding and breath taking views of the badlands from Fonts Point. The sun and clouds bounce the most beautiful shadows from this viewpoint. Cameras will be mandatory, as the view is something you cannot experience anywhere else.

March is a beautiful and comfortable time in the desert, spaces are limited. This newsletter contains an application for this event. Two in a coach is $650 includes parking, meals and activities. We look forward to camping with you.

The newly unveiled Bay Point Landing in Coos Bay Oregon is our destination for some summer beach fun. August 7 through 10, 2020. Outdoor relax-ation at its best. Stretched across a mile of beautiful waterfront we will enjoy bay and ocean views. The clubhouse is an architectural delight with floor to ceiling windows that brings the outdoors inside, there is even an indoor salt-water swimming pool for us to enjoy.

We will offer a deep sea fishing trip and a clamming adventure. This area on the Oregon Coast offers everything the outdoor enthusiast could want to do. More details to come in the next newsletter. Save the date and plan to join us for the Coastal Commotion Rally.

People are coming from around the United States and internationally to see the amazing 130 full-sized metal sculptures here that are inspired by creatures that roamed this same desert millions of years ago. The artworks range from prehistoric mammals to historical characters, fanciful dinosaurs, and a 350-foot-long fanciful serpent.

Who’s the mastermind artist behind all of this? His name is Ricardo Breceda. The Accidental Artist has been creating his metal animal kingdom, since his daughter Lianna at the age of 6 requested a dinosaur of her own for Christmas, after watching the movie Jurassic Park III. At the time he was a cowboy boot salesman,having traded a pair of boots for a welding machine. After a few weeks, his first sculpture would be a 20ft tall Tyrannosaurus Rex. What started as a hobby quickly became a passion to transform metal into incredible life like creations. Since then Ricardo has become a well-known sculptor designer.
