Providing value

Scheduling manual gauging is time consuming, expensive and arduous during harsh weather conditions. Climbing stairs and catwalks puts personnel at risk. Manual measurements take time and accuracy is always subject to human errors. The Guard Level® DFG sensor outputs a consistent accurate level, volume and temperature reading and gives undisputed results. This lays the foundation for a complete inventory control system.

Why invest in a tank gauging system?

As a manufacturer of both radar and float based measuring sensors and systems, we know each sensing technology has its pros and cons. We have supplied tank gauging in over 3,000 cargo and fuel tanks spanning 20+ years using both float and radar technologies. As such, we have developed deep application and product knowledge. Unequivocally, we know that radar based sensors are far more complicated devices and are quite sensitive to lost and false echoes, yielding significant measurement errors. Power cycling does not restore measurement function without complicated false echo learn functions. This field repair requires expert skill levels. Lastly, radar sensors do not take temperature measurements and are not true bottom referenced gauge devices.

The Guard Level® DFG was designed to make your lives easier. A single moving float unaffected by the vast majority of liquids has proven itself in over 20,000+ chemical, crude oil and even bitumen cargo tanks. A welded stainless steel shaft, seals out the tank liquid. Within this shaft, our proprietary 100% digital level gauge is housed. It contains two digital temperature sensors as standard. Measurements are entirely unaffected by product and tank atmosphere and there is no programming or software configuration required. Combined with permanent calibration and a simple two wire connection, the Guard Level® DFG becomes an exceptional oil field tank gauging solution.

2015 marks our 40th anniversary.

What started as a fledgling company in the basement of our home by my father in Norway, has evolved Ian-Conrad Bergan into the leading U.S. provider of tank gauging and overfill protection systems for the global commercial marine markets.

Our sensors and equipment are designed for tough conditions and against the most stringent test requirements. Our Guard Level® Digital Float Gauge was developed 10 years ago and is now the reference standard for reliability, durability, and performance in tank gauging. Our DFG systems have been tested & proven and are operating from the frigid waters of Alaska to the tropical heat of equatorial Papua New Guinea. It is ready to satisfy the demanding requirements of the upstream oil and gas industry.
