We would like to welcome you to the 2021 Guardian Angel Knitting program! For 23 years, our Guardian Angels have showcased their talent in creating wonderful garments and donating them to those in need. We are pleased to continue our partnership with the St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies) as we continue our journey to help those who face homelessness and disadvantage across Australia.

Knitted goods donated by our Guardian Angels are either handed out directly to people in need or sold in store at Vinnies shops, with proceeds going towards funding Vinnies volunteer programs for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Be a Guardian Angel in 2021 by creating your favourite patterns from our knitting book and dropping them off at your local Guardian pharmacy. Vinnies require knitted blankets, scarves and gloves for their homelessness programs.

We would like to thank Vinnies for partnering with us and giving us a platform to be able to help provide comfort and humanity to disadvantaged Australians. We would also like to thank YOU for your consistent contribution to our Guardian Angel program.

A MESSAGE FROM VINNIES TO OUR GUARDIAN ANGELSFor Australians experiencing homelessness and poverty, winter can be an especially tough time and for the past 20 years, the Guardian Angel Knitting Program has been spreading warmth one hand-knitted garment at a time.

At Vinnies, we recognise Guardian Pharmacy’s wonderful work and support of The Guardian Angel Knitting Program, which once again invites knitting enthusiasts in our communities to make warm garments for people who need them.

Today, through our wide network of members and volunteers, Vinnies provides practical frontline support, advocacy and friendship to the most vulnerable members of our community. Our Vinnies Soup Vans volunteers help distribute

these much-needed hand-knitted scarves, beanies and blankets.

Teams from Guardian Pharmacy joined us during our Vinnies Soup Van route and extended their support by providing other necessities, such as deodorant, toothbrushes, baby wipes and menthol drops.

We’re very grateful for the support of Guardian Pharmacy, particularly their Guardian Angels who give the gift of time, kindness and warmth to help others this winter.

HOW YOU HELP

H E L P

D O N A T E

K N I T

Through the generous donation of a hand-knitted item, Vinnies can support an Australian in need in two ways. Learn about the journey your garment takes to help those in need below.

The journey begins with you, our Guardian Angel, picking up a copy of the Knitting Book from your local Guardian Pharmacy. Next comes choosing and lovingly knitting your garment.

Once your garment is complete, you donate it to your local Guardian Pharmacy upon your next visit, where you will also receive your certificate of recognition.

From here, the garment is shipped off to the Vinnies warehouse where it will be used to help people in need in one of two ways.

#1 Garments are given directly to people experiencing disadvantage through Vinnies’ community services, such as their soup vans and crisis centres.

#2 Garments can be sold at Vinnies, with profits from the sales used to fund multiple Vinnies community services such as accommodation and support, aged care, homelessness and disability.
