Dear Students,
Sharpen your Minds.
‘There was a woodcutter who used to cut wood daily, slogging it out in the hot sun, sweating. The
same company employed another woodcutter as well. The second woodcutter used to cut more than the first.
As a result of that, after one year the company increased his salary. The first woodcutter complained, “I have
been working for so many years in this organisation, and you have increased his salary. How is this fair?
They said,” Look, we are production oriented. He is cutting double the trees that you are cutting. You in-
crease your performance and we will increase your salary as well”. So he tried harder and harder. But he
was not able to increase his production. So he went to them and said,” How does he cut so many trees?” They
said,” Why don’t you ask him?” He went and asked the second lumberjack, “How do you do it?” He replied
saying, “ Every time I cut a tree I take a five-minute break in which I sharpen my saw. Do you sharpen your
saw?” The other one (first one) said, “ No, I just keep chopping and chopping and chopping.” Second one
said,” That is the mistake.” Dear children, Do you take time to sharpen your saw? Do you take time to im-
prove your mind through sadhana? “ Our scriptures tell us that we need to do sadhana on a daily basis.
The biggest cause for ill health today is lack of exercise. And the biggest solution is exercise. Whether you do
yogasana walking, aerobics, or go to a gym, a good workout routine is key to maintaining your health, so
remember to set aside atleast 30 minutes everyday for exercise. What about the exercise for the mind? The
mind is also subject to wear and tear. Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita, “ Do sadhana in isola-
tion.” Free your mind of clutter and negative thoughts spend a few minutes in silence and medidate on all
the positive things of life and you will surely be successful.

‘Knowledge is most useful when liberated and shared’ what better way to impart the gift of knowledge to the young minds of SRM School than when it is from their seniors, the students of SRM Institute of Science and Technology. In order to initiate project based learning for classes 8 and 9, the school had invited the students of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, AARUUSH group on 10th August, 2019 , to showcase their projects that they have developed and im-plemented. This initiative by the school is a way to engage the young minds to focus on science, engineering and technology, to motivate them to develop their own projects and create new models from the knowledge they have gained in their classrooms.
The college students visited the Classes 8 and 9 where they presented live demos on their latest project ‘Energy resources’ by making use of solar energy to generate light, with the help of solar panels and plastic bottles .This simple mod-el was tested and now lights the streets of a few villages.
