Dog Reading Activities

1. Choose a book that has a dog in it. You can always search the library catalog on any topic to find library books your child would like.

2. Read the book together.3. Select a page and help your child point out various

things on the page. For example, “Can you point to the dog’s eyes?” or “This is a letter B. Can you find another letter B?”

4. Make paper bag dog puppets together. Read the story again and act it out using your puppets.

5. Tell your child that you know a song about a dog that you used to sing when you were little. Sing BINGO. Use the poster to point out the letters and the places to clap as you sing along.
