Early Years•Grass was born in Danzig, Poland on

October 16,1927.

•He was injured in the Second World War and also kept captive as a prisoner of war

•In 1963 the novel, Hundejahre (Dog Years).

•In 2002, he returns and writes, Im Krebsgang (Crabwalk), a novella. This was Grass's most successful work in decades.
