Lived: North West of Syria, 200 km. long and approx. 35 to 40 km wide, between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of the Lebanon and Palestine.
Phoenicia never formed a unified State, but rather was composed of cities - independent states among themselves and sometimes conflicting. Three cities achieved at different times the supremacy over the others:
Byblos, Sidon and Tyre

Industry: Technology own and others, became a major producer of weapons, jewellery, utensils, iron and bronze, glass objects, dyed fabrics, perfumes and, especially, for boats (round, long), even equipped with navigators.
Manufactured glass, inks, textiles, ceramics. They worked the metals to make jewelry. They built temples and palaces, used stone as the Egyptians and followed the Mesopotamia. The designs Phoenicians were highlighted in a the ivory carving Legacy:
Policy: its methodology of foundation new colonies.
Economic: models of trade and maritime navigation. Dyeing of fabrics and the manufacture of transparent glass.
Science: the alphabet and the disclosure in writing.

Main cause: Clash of interests between the existing Carthaginian Empire and the expanding Roman Republic.
At the end of the 3 Wars - and the defeat of the Seleucid King Antiochus III the Great in the Roman-Syrian War (Peace of Apamea, 188 BC) in the eastern sea, Rome I Mediterranean power.
