guess who i met in the sandbox? collaborations with the public library
DESCRIPTION
Douglas County Libraries’ has recently experienced several successful collaborations. Together with a major database vendor, it collaborated with the local school system to meet the electronic resource needs of the 55,000 students, increase their database use, and save taxpayers $100,000 in the process. At the same time, the library worked with chambers of commerce and local economic development councils to provide startup and marketing information to small-to mid-size companies. It has paired with the local election office to provide assistance with election questions. And an innovative program now allows library patrons to check out a pass to local art and wildlife museums. • Fee received for answering primary calls – $500 • Number of days answering calls – 17 • Fee received per week for calls – $294.12 = ($500 / 17) * 10 • Number of calls received 7/19-31 – 340 • $294.12/week / 340 calls received = .87¢ per call
Calculation for cost of election calls for Contact Center staff:
• Avg cost per hr for CC staff – $16.44• Time spent on election calls – 10.25 hours• Number of calls received 7/19-7/30 – 340 • $16.44 * 10.25 = $168.51 cost to answer calls• $168.51 / 340 = .50¢ per call
