Teaching staff

The teaching and scientific work at the Faculty is done by over 60 teachers and about 40 teaching associates. The teaching staff includes experts of the highest scientific and professional competences. The Teacher Education Faculty educates primary school teachers and preschool teachers at their respective departments.

The faculty provides education at all academic levels including Basic, Master and Doctoral studies. The teaching process is based on the latest curricula and syllabi with students gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for their future teaching careers. During their studies, our pre-service teachers develop professional competences necessary for lesson planning, classwork organization, holding lessons and the evaluation of the teaching process and pedagogical work. Also, they develop communicative and problem-solving skills and learn how to understand children's needs.

The working atmosphere in which pre-service teachers develop professional skills for their future work with preschool and primary school children is equally important. That is why the Teacher Education Faculty invests a lot in the infrastructure and equipment used both in the classrooms and teaching staff offices. Students have at their disposal access to the Internet, a computer laboratory, internal television, library with a reading room and a students' club. The Faculty has two affiliates located in Vrsac and Novi Pazar.

About the Faculty

Applicants are primarily assessed for their speaking, musical and physical skills, upon which they take the entrance exam consisting of a Serbian language and literature test and a general knowledge test. The Faculty organizes respective preparatory courses.

The Law on teacher education faculties was adopted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in July 1993. Thus the Teacher Education Faculty started its work on the 1st October the same year. The Government adopted the Decision on the merger between the College for Preschool Teacher Training and the Teacher Education Faculty on 4th April, 2007. So far, more than 2500 students have graduated from the Faculty. Master's degree has been gained by more than 400 students and over 50 students have completed their specialist studies or gained a Master of Arts or Doctoral degree.
