PREPARATION FOR RETURN

GENERAL

The following preparations are ongoing or have been completed for the safe return of Student-Athletes to campus

• Development of Student-Athlete Return to Campus Plan

• Reviewed by Arkansas Department of Health, UAMS Medical Advisors, and Department of Athletics Team Physicians Group

• Development of Staff Return to Office Plan

• Distributed Q&A document to student-athletes and their parents/guardians

• Provided Zoom call opportunities for student-athletes and their parents/guardians to ask further questions

• Scheduling mandatory physicals for student-athletes as they return to campus

• Additional cleaning and disinfecting measures detailed in the next several pages

• Development and placement of Covid-19 recommended signage

FACILITY PREPAREDNESS Below are the current and ongoing measures Arkansas Athletics has in place to ensure safe and sanitized facilities. These measures will

be ongoing and continue throughout all three phases of this plan

CLEANING

At the onset of the work from home order for campus, Building Services expedited a manual, labor intensive “deep” cleaning.

Included was:

• Disinfecting wiping of all high frequency touch points and all high traffic areas as well as all of the surfaces within those spaces

• Electrostatic non-mechanical disinfecting

• Mandatory dormancy period of 96-168 hours

Early research has demonstrated that the virus ‘s survival depends on the type of surface it lands on. The live virus can survive varying times depending on the material.

• Glass – 5 days • Wood – 4 days • Plastic & Stainless-steel – 3 days • Cardboard – 24 hours. • Copper – 4 hours

• Door tags posted on all office spaces indicating space has been cleaned and disinfected

• Status of door tags checked on a daily basis and spaces re-cleaned and disinfected if tag is removed

• All employees cleaning and disinfecting venues have access to PPE (such as masks, gloves, eye protection) as needed and follow requirements for hand washing and social distancing

FACILITY PREPAREDNESS Below are the current and ongoing measures Arkansas Athletics has in place to ensure safe and sanitized facilities. These measures will

be ongoing and continue throughout all three phases of this plan

EQUIPMENT

SUPPLIES

The American Chemistry Council's (ACC) Center for Biocide Chemistries (CBC) has compiled a list of products that have been pre-approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use against emerging enveloped viral pathogens and can be used during the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The U of A Building Services unit has implemented use of 2-3 approved products from the list to execute the safe environment cleaning plan. A full list of EPA approved products can be found here:

https://www.epa.gov/pesticide-registration/list-n-disinfectants-use-against-sars-cov-2

The University of Arkansas is utilizing

• Detco Industries Germ-A-Cide 64 (EPA #47371-131-58111)

• Georgia-Pacific Professional Gen2 High-Frequency Use Touchless Foam Sanitizer Dispensers

• Wagner Flexio Series Electric Sprayers

• Victory VP300ES Electrostatic Handheld Sprayer

• Victory VP200ES Electrostatic Backpack Sprayer

What is Electrostatic Disinfecting and How Does it Work?

Electrostatic disinfecting is a way of quickly and evenly coating a surface with a

disinfecting solution. This is done by using an electrostatic applicator that gives a

negative charge to the disinfecting solution as it exits the nozzle. The charged

molecules will repel each other, meaning they will be an even distance from each

other, but will be attracted to the surface they are applied to. The charged parti-

cles have a charge strength greater than gravity allowing them to directionally

target a selected surface very quickly providing near immediate room reentry.

FACILITY PREPAREDNESS Below are the current and ongoing measures Arkansas Athletics has in place to ensure safe and sanitized facilities. These measures will

be ongoing and continue throughout all three phases of this plan

HVAC

PLUMBING

ELECTRICAL

Since buildings may have been shut down with little warning and preparation, a best practice is to thoroughly inspect for any damage or issues caused by the vacancy. The physical condition and operation of equipment and services supporting the building also should be assessed. Items that are included are: • Mechanical Systems • Water Systems Chilled/condenser water: open/closed loops • Water features • Conveyances • Potable water: flush faucets • Fire Life Safety Systems • Ensure open site drains are inspected and traps are primed Arkansas Athletics’ technicians have maintained the daily operation of each building by incorporating schedules while continuously performing the preventative maintenance required. This approach versus a total system shutdown assisted with the exercising of all HVAC units, hot and cold water loops etc. By maintaining this approach, it will prevent the need for dry starting any systems and/or additional maintenance steps related to full sys-tem start ups. • All Technicians have access to PPE (such as masks, gloves, eye protection and coveralls) as needed and will follow requirements for hand wash-

ing and social distancing will be followed

• The coils (Condenser/Evaporators) at HVAC units supplying office and common areas have undergone or will undergo further sanitation with a “Sniper” disinfectant. https://www.epa.gov/pesticide-registration/list-n-disinfectants-use-against-sars-cov-2

• All general preventive maintenance (PMs), greasing, belt inspection, damper cleanliness, drain pans, return grills, condenser fans etc. will be assessed for cleanliness and any deviations to proper operations will be addressed as needed

In the days/week before venues are brought back to occupancy

• HVAC units will be turned on to “Occupied Mode” and run for a 3 day period at elevated temperatures as an additional “kill step” • This step was performed initially 2 weeks after the shutdown and prior to unit disinfecting • Operate HVAC systems with additional outside air movement to infuse a higher volume of fresh air • Chiller towers, boilers, hot/cold water loops will all be shocked with additional chemicals as an added precaution

FACILITY PREPAREDNESS Below are the current and ongoing measures Arkansas Athletics has in place to ensure safe and sanitized facilities. These measures will

be ongoing and continue throughout all three phases of this plan

TURF

GROUNDS

All artificial turf surfaces venues have been pre cleaned, and will receive an application 2-5 days before first use. Frequencies will be determined as usages are established.

Artificial turf surfaces are treated with a concentered deodorizer/disinfectant (ProGienics* or similar product )based on venue usage and need. Applications take a range of 1.5-5 hours to apply, the frequency and volume will be adjusted accordingly.

Estimated times to brush surface, tank mix, and apply treatment

• Walker Indoor – 4.5 hrs (Phase II or III)

• Walker Outdoor – 5 hrs (Phase I)

• Fowler Indoor 3.5 hrs (Phase II or III)

• Bogle indoor 1.5 hrs (Phase II or III)

*ProGienics is effective against the following: Acinelobactor baumannii, Bordetella bronchispetica, Campylobacter jejuni, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli 0157:H7, Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus faecalis (VRE), Escherinchia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniea, Listeria monocytogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enterica, Shigella dysenteriae, Staphylococcus aureus, Community associated Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus CA MRSA, Staphylococcus aureus Methicillin resistant, Vancomycin Intermediate resistant Staphylococcus aureus VISA, Streptococcus salivarius, Avian Influenza A H5N1 virus, Avian Influenza A H9N2/Turkey/Wisconsin virus, Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), Herpes Simplex virus Type 1, Human Coronavirus, Influenza A2/Japan virus, Influenza A H1N1 virus, Norovirus Norwalk-like virus, HIV-1
