    Brazil NewsletterSummer 2011Saudaes de Guildford College

    Welcome to the first edition of the Guildford College Group(GCG) Brazil newsletter which we will be publishing at regularintervals to keep our Brazilian partners up to date withdevelopments including our visits to the country and newopportunities for your students.

    During April, our Head of International Sales, Arshad Khanvisited some of our Brazilian partners in the cities of Sao Paulo,Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Osorio, Canela and Gramado.He gave student presentations and secured agreements toestablish new links for Brazilian students to study at Guildford.

    Yazigi Travels

    Arshad was invited by Yazigi Travels to visit some of theirschools and make a presentation about the Colleges Summerand Winter School programmes. It was a great opportunityto meet some of the students and talk about the Guildfordexperience. In all we presented to approximately 400 studentsat Yazigi Schools including Osorio, Gramado, Canela, ChacaraFlora, Perdizes, Aeroporto and Jabaquara.

    As a result there will be Yazigi students attending SummerSchool this year and we are anticipating good participationatour Winter School in Jan/Feb 2012, where students will be

    visiting England at a beautiful time of the year to enjoy activitiesin the snow and ice skating amongst others.

    During the visit to Yazigi Osorio, Canela and Gramado, it wasagreed with the owners to run a quiz competition that will giveYazigi students the chance to win 2 weeks free tuition at theGuildford College Summer/Winter School. The winner will havea video diary created of his/her trip and this will be distributedon the Yazigi website. The winner of the competition willreceive 2 free weeks of free tuition plus an award of 100 ofvouchers. The runner up will receive a 1 week of free tuition atthe Winter School.

    Guildford College is very excited to be associated with Yazigischools and is looking forward to welcoming the first group ofstudents this year. We will be working very closely with Yazigi

    to make the English school at Guildford a reality for Yazigistudents with specialist programmes to be offered for 2012which we hope will include both Winter and Summer Footballand Dance + Drama schools as well as Summer Golf,Wimbledon, Disney and Olympic schools.

    These programmes will also be open to students from aroundthe world, so come and join us for a truly global experience.

    Arshad will be visiting Brazil again in October/November2011. If you would like him to come and present at yourschool contact him by email at [email protected] he will arrange a presentation, itinerary permitting.

    SENAC

    SENAC and GCG have now been working together for justover a year and their partnership is creating rich programmesfor their students to benefit from international aspects ofHospitality and Travel and Tourism.

    During Arshads recent meeting with SENACs AlessandraVerni Capparos and Marcia Harumi Miyazaki we have nowstarted work on developing short programmes for SENACstudents to visit Guildford College on Professional DevelopmentProgrammes which will give their degrees a programme andtruly globalised flavour. Our special thanks must go to RodrigoGaspar of the British Council who has supported us tirelessly

    as an intermediary and translator.SENAC are also very interested in developing specialist Tutorled online English for Hospitality programmes for whichGuildford College will be providing expertise and resourcesto start the first programmes for late 2011.

    Rodrigo commented We at the British Council are veryexcited by this partnership and offer our full support andblessing towards its success.

    Castelli Escola Superior de Hotelaria

    During a visit to the southern state of Rio Grande Do Sul wewere introduced to Castelli Escola Superior de Hotelaria inCanela and are now proud to announce that we have established

    the foundations of a partnership. The two institutes will bedeveloping initiatives that will benefit our students in bothBrazil and the UK and allow for a truly international hospitalityeducational experience. Castelli is a highly rated school in thesouthern state providing high quality education and vocationaltraining and we are honoured to be associated with an instituteof such repute.

    We will be developing other variations of these types ofprogrammes including more tutor led online English classesat Castelli. There will be further updates in the next newsletter.
