Sabarmati Riverfront
Development Project
Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project
• Narendra Modi never shies away from touting about his “famous” Sabarmati Riverfront Project. But the following pictures will tell us the real story.
CAG - Sabarmati About 32% of Gujarat’s drinking water sources were found to be contaminated in a pre-
monsoon survey, but the villagers were not alerted, according to CAG. “Sampled pollution control programme of Sabarmati River at Ahmedabad though
seemingly working, did not succeed in bringing down pollution levels to the prescribed norms. Present status of Sabarmati shows the presence of fecal-related disease causing pathogens as well as organic pollution at the outskirts of the city limits.”
CAG and Sabarmati CAG also came down heavily on the government for its failure to keep its water bodies, rivers,
lakes and ponds, free of pollution. Saying the Sabarmati Riverfront project's planning and scope was "inadequate", CAG
underlined that the project "defeated" the objective of keeping the river clean. It said 32% of drinking water sources were contaminated during a pre-monsoon survey, and the affected villagers were not even alerted

Systemic Exodus of Sikh Farmers from Gujarat craftily planned by Narendra Modi
March 1973 - Government circular was passed to stop transfer of agricultural land from farmers to outsider "Benami" (not real) farmers.
1973-2003 - The government resolution of 1973 was not invoked during this time. No notices were issued to the Sikh farmers in Kutch. The circular is not an amendment in the Act or a notification. The circular also says that cases are reported to have occurred in the districts of Ahmedabad, Baroda, Bulsar, Rajkot, Surat and Jamnagar. Please note that district Kutch is not specifically mentioned.
2003 - Gujarat Government under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi started issuing show cause notices to the sikh farmers and asking them why their land is not ceased and registration for purchase of agricultural land are cancelled as they are "Outsider” (Par Prantiya).
2010 - Punjabi Sikh farmers approached the Hon’ble High Court of Gujarat in the matter ‘PREETHI SINGH MUKAND SINGH SHIKH & ORS Vs. DISTRICT COLLECTOR & ORS’ Case number: LETTERS PATENT APPEAL/1106/2011.
Systemic Exodus of Sikh Farmers from Gujarat craftily planned by Narendra Modi
2011 - The Hon’ble High Court of Gujarat granted an interim relief to the appellants by giving a stay order directing the District Collector to not alter any revenue records and to not initiate any proceedings under Section 84C of the Bombay Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1948. This case was further placed before the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Gujarat to be referred to an appropriate bench of the Gujarat High Court. Figures can’t be corroborated since it is a current issue and Gujarat Government might be hiding exact data.
FDI in Gujarat
Narendra Modi, CM, Gujarat on FDI in retail - “I don’t know what PM is doing. Small businessmen will be forced to down their shutters now.”
Even though BJP has vehemently opposed FDI in retail at every forum this subsidiary of Walmart Chain opened its store in Narendra Modi’s backyard (Anand, Gujarat).
Illegal allotment of Forest land and allowing them construction in Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and Forest Land to Essar Group, by the Government of Gujarat
The Essar Group was allotted land bearing survey no. 434 of Hazira (Suvali) admeasuring 2,07,60,000 sq.mts., which partly consists of CRZ and Forest land. As per the guidelines of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, nobody can be permitted to construct and develop CRZ and Forest land.
• Why did the government of Gujarat allot CRZ and Forest land to Essar group in clear contravention to SC rules, guidelines and directions?
• When the issue was brought to the state government, instead of taking stern action, why was the entire issue settled by imposing a meagre fine of Rs. 20 lakhs only?
• Considering the market rate of Rs. 3000 per sq mts the land cost works out to be Rs. 6228 crores. Why was special benefit given to Essar group?
Is this Vibrant Gujarat? Is this how we empower our poor?
Not allotting land to Indian Air Force, but to favoured Industrial houses at subsidised rates
• Why was the Indian Air Force (IAF), South-West Air Command (SWAC), which required land for their Head Quarters in Gujarat, asked to pay 7 times more than the rate offered to various other private parties in Gujarat?
• If we consider the base rate, the allotment made to various private parties and Industrial houses has resulted in a heavy loss of Rs. 5197.16 crores to the treasury, as per the information provided under RTI, by the relevant Department of Government of Gujarat
Is this Vibrant Gujarat? Is this how he will protect our borders?
Bad management and unprofessional approach by the government of Gujarat in Internal Security issues
• CAG report dated 31st March, 2009 for Government of Gujarat has observed unprofessional approach and lack of annual planning leading to millions of rupees remaining unspent which were given to the government of Gujarat by the Central government
• Gujarat government did not even present prospective security plan to Central government • Money ranging from 5% to 68% has remained unspent, which had been given by the Central government to Gujarat for the modernization of police forces, for upgradation of transport, arms and ammunition, training and home guards etc.
• Due to maladministration of government of Gujarat, there was 100% shortage of cartridge of 5.56 INSAS; 32% shortage of cartridge of 0.303 and huge shortage of 9 mm cartridges. 17,933 expired tear gas shells were found.
Is this Vibrant Gujarat?
Kalpasar Project
1986 – The Congress Government under Amarsinh Chaudhary decided to build a 46 km long dam to store 3377 MCM of water.
2002 – Narendra Modi stresses on the importance of infrastructure development in Gujarat and boasts about making the Kalpasar Project a reality.
2003 – Geologists find fault lines in Kalpasar Project. The construction of the dam will make the area more earthquake prone.
2004 – Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kalpasar Project and announced that it cost Rs.54,000 crores. He claimed that the project would be completed in record time.
2008 – The Gujarat Government was at odds between carrying out Kalpasar and Dholera special investment region. Both projects have been promised by the State yet neither have been implemented.
Kalpasar Project
2010 – The Kalpasar Yatra arrived into Vadodra. The party still believes that the project will materialize yet reality points to the contrary.
2014 - The ambitious Kalpasar Project which envisioned the creation of the world’s largest fresh water reservoir in sea, by constructing a 30 km long dam in the Gulf of Khambhat is still in the pipeline after 19 years and more than Rs. 60 crores in feasibility and assessment studies inspite of the portfolio being held by Shri Narendra Modi.

Gujarat Lokayukta
• The Narendra Modi led government in Gujarat did not allow the appointment of a Lokayukta in Gujarat for 10 years as per the Lok Ayukta Act enacted by Congress Govt. in Gujarat in 1988.
• When Chief Minister was charged with Rs.1 lakh crores worth corruption in 17 scandals, he appointed his own Inquiry Commissioner instead of getting inquiry done through Lokayukta.
• In case of allegations about snooping and telephone tapping of a lady, Narendra Modi himself appointed a Commission.
• The Gujarat Govt. paid Rs.40 crores in fees to lawyers to impede appointment of Lokayukta in Gujarat.
• Justice (retired) D.P. Buch took oath in 2013 as the Lokayukta of Gujarat after the post remained vacant for more than a decade.Link - http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/judge-declines-gujarat-lokayukta-post-raps-modi/article5001886.ece
