FACTS

THE TRANSITION

The reality is, we use the second

Amendment to defend the right

to bear arms when the weapons

looked like this.

But now we have managed to

create weapons beyond the

wildest dreams of the Founding

Fathers. As the guns have

changed, so must our tolerance

of them.

PRO GUN CULTURE?

Page 7: Guns in america, the facts

We live in a time where mass murder is glorified and used as

profit.

Games, Movies, Music videos all are heavily influenced by the

use of firearms.

America is synonymous with the idea of guns, we are the ones

who go in “guns blazing”

When we are bombarded with images and ideas of guns being

cool and those who have them are symbols of power, who

could resist them?

All together, Americans own 270,000,000 guns, more than

the next 19 countries combined and 224,000,000 more than

the next country on the list, India.

PRO GUN CULTURE

Page 8: Guns in america, the facts

Getting a gun in America is almost as simple as walking into

an establishment and having the money to get one.

The only things keeping you back are having a criminal record

or a history of mental il lness.

Even THIS can be walked around however, through a legal

loophole in gun policy.

Any private owner can sell guns to whomever they choose to,

no questions asked.

Around 40% of guns are sold this way.

In many cases, private vendors are excited to meet people

who cannot pass background checks, as they know they will

pay a lot of money to get what they want.

HOW DO I GET A GUN?

THE DANGER

Page 10: Guns in america, the facts

Guns have now become so powerful that a novice can pick up

a gun with almost no experience and loose up to 3 shots in a

second.

The shooter at Newton only needed around ten minutes to

cause all the devastation inside the school, all with

completely legal weaponry.

THE DANGER

With the ability of being

able to shoot at a rate of

45 shots a minute and a 30

round capacity magazine,

who could have stood a

chance?

The number of mass shooting events in this country has risen

from 5 a year from 2000-2008 to 16 a year from 2009-2012.

A mass shooting event is an event where at least 4 individuals

are killed in a single incident.

The last 6 years alone has seen 12 of the top 25 mass

shooting events, totaling 159 causalities.

DEATH ON THE RISE

THE PROBLEM

Page 15: Guns in america, the facts

THE PROBLEM?

Page 16: Guns in america, the facts

The combination of the amount that pro -gun activists pay to

make their opinions heard and powerful and the importance

they place on voting make them an extremely dif ficult group

to overcome.

Two issues come into play here: following the money, and the

true nature of democratic process.

In a capitalistic society, those who control the most cash flow

often find themselves to have the most influence

In a democratic society, those who come out and vote to make

their voices heard are those who directly influence the

decisions made.

THE PROBLEM?

Page 17: Guns in america, the facts

GET OUT AND VOTE! This is imperative. Voting is the right that

America has fought and bled for for centuries and it is the

ideal upon which this great country is built. Standing idly by

does not simply do nothing, it strengthens the opposition.

GET OUT AND TALK! The only way to get people interested in

this is to let them know what is happening. Talk to a neighbor,

to a classmate, to your family, anytime you can raise the

topic, inform all those around you. Only those who know, care.

GET OUT AND GET INVOLVED! If you can go and help campaign

for your local congressmen, go and do it! If you can make

flyers and post them on walls everywhere then do that! If you

can even just call your congressmen from the comfort in your

bed, do at least that!

WHAT CAN WE DO?

Page 18: Guns in america, the facts

Our only solution is to take the moment we are standing in

now and make sure it is a moment of change. Every day that

passes we are open to another psychotic individual who can

cause a devastating amount of damage without so much as a

warning. It is our responsibility to our fellow countrymen to

keep them as safe as we would want them to keep us. This is

truly a country of the people, and if the people wish to be

safe; they can be. This is our time and our time alone, we

must take our time and make sure we leave our mark on

history! Let now be the time that we set America on the path

with the rest of the world. Away from the mindless luxury that

are firearms and towards the path of peace. We are the last

country who still has such an obsession with guns, let us be

the ones who finally turn that number into a zero!

OUR SOLUTION?
