Their leader, Moses, is tasked with keeping the masses moving and motivat- ed. Sometimes, we may find ourselves in situations where we feel like we too are wander- ing, perhaps unmotivated as well. Life can present circumstances where we are direction- less and without leadership. But, God did give the Israelites a leader in the form of Moses. Interestingly, after lead- ing his people for such a long period, God did not allow Moses to enter the Promised Land. He was guilty of a relatively small infraction (in my opinion) and was not allowed to lead his people across the finish line. Moses was human. He made a mistake and had to face the consequences. We all have examples of leaders in our lives. Some of us may have been gifted with the skills of leadership ourselves. The Bible is full of stories of common people that are cho- sen by God to perform leadership roles -- Abraham, Jacob, Elijah, Moses, Jonah, Ruth, Nao- mi, Esther, Paul! Many of these individuals were initially unwilling or timid about God’s re- quest. Yet, with God, all things are possible. At this time in our church’s life, we are in a transition period without a minister lead- er. Our Pulpit committee is earnestly seeking God’s will to find a leader for Guyton Christian Church. It is not a quick process. (While Moses wandered for forty years in the desert, the search committee has only been active for four months!) As a member of the search com- mittee, I can attest that each member is earnestly seeking God’s direction in choosing a leader for our church. However, it is important to remember that it is not the leader or minister that fulfills the church’s purpose. Just like it was not Moses that ultimately led the Israelites into the Prom- ised Land. We are all individually accountable to join in the effort, to keep the faith & to sup- port the church body -- regardless of the leadership situation. Let’s find purpose in this time of wandering by keeping the faith that God will provide the right leader for our church. Time to Wander

In the book of Exodus, the Israelites flee Egypt and wander in the desert for forty years! Their leader, Moses, is tasked with keeping the masses moving and motivat-ed. Sometimes, we may find ourselves in situations where we feel like we too are wander-ing, perhaps unmotivated as well. Life can present circumstances where we are direction-less and without leadership.

But, God did give the Israelites a leader in the form of Moses. Interestingly, after lead-ing his people for such a long period, God did not allow Moses to enter the Promised Land. He was guilty of a relatively small infraction (in my opinion) and was not allowed to lead his people across the finish line. Moses was human. He made a mistake and had to face the consequences.

We all have examples of leaders in our lives. Some of us may have been gifted with the skills of leadership ourselves. The Bible is full of stories of common people that are cho-sen by God to perform leadership roles -- Abraham, Jacob, Elijah, Moses, Jonah, Ruth, Nao-mi, Esther, Paul! Many of these individuals were initially unwilling or timid about God’s re-quest. Yet, with God, all things are possible.

At this time in our church’s life, we are in a transition period without a minister lead-er. Our Pulpit committee is earnestly seeking God’s will to find a leader for Guyton Christian Church. It is not a quick process. (While Moses wandered for forty years in the desert, the search committee has only been active for four months!) As a member of the search com-mittee, I can attest that each member is earnestly seeking God’s direction in choosing a leader for our church.

However, it is important to remember that it is not the leader or minister that fulfills the church’s purpose. Just like it was not Moses that ultimately led the Israelites into the Prom-ised Land. We are all individually accountable to join in the effort, to keep the faith & to sup-port the church body -- regardless of the leadership situation. Let’s find purpose in this time of wandering by keeping the faith that God will provide the right leader for our church.
