GW1000-ABEIP RSLINX AB Ethernet to DH+ Setup

This application note provides an example of setting up RSLINX/LOGIX via the Allen Bradley Ethernet Driver to DH+.

Set the IP address of the GW1000.

Connect the GW1000 ethernet port to a switch or hub on the same network as your PC using a CAT5 network patch cord. Power on the GW1000 and wait 30 seconds for the bootup sequence to complete. Note the LAN LINK indicator LED should be on and the LAN ACTIVITY LED may be blinking.

Open a web browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer. In the address bar, type the IP address of the GW1000. (The default IP address is 192.168.1.111). (note: if you have changed the default IP address of the GW1000, enter the new address in the address bar. If you do not know the IP address programmed into the GW1000, first restore factory defaults.)


At the login prompt, type User Name “root” and Password “Netsilicon”. Please note logins and passwords are case-sensitive. If you do not see the login window appear, please see additional detail in the user manual. You may need to adjust your network settings.

Click “Network IP Settings” to display the current IP address and subnet mask...

Change the IP address and subnet mask to any values desired, and click APPLY.

If you would like to change the DH+ node address of the GW1000 at this time, click “Standard Parameters” and choose a different node address. Be sure to click APPLY.

For settings to take effect, you must click “Reboot” in the left margin and Click the “Reboot” button to confirm.


RSLINX Allen Bradley Ethernet Driver Setup

Open RSLINX by clicking the icon in the system tray or clicking Start -> All Programs -> Rockwell Software -> RSLINX.

Click Communications -> Configure Drivers

Choose “Ethernet devices” and click “Add New.”


Choose a name for the new driver, or accept the default and click OK.


Station Mapping

Under the “Station” column, enter the node addresses (in decimal) of all known nodes on the DH+ network. To the right of each node address, enter the IP address for the GW1000. The default node address of the GW1000 is 01 decimal and the default IP address is 192.168.1.111. For the GW1000 node, leave the “Host Name” as “Driver.”

In the following example, the GW1000 is at DH+ node 01 decimal, and there are two SLC 5/04 PLCs at nodes 02 decimal and 06 decimal. (See enclosed conversion table to convert Octal to decimal.)

Click Apply, then OK.


The driver is now running... Click “Close.”

Now, right-click the newly-created driver and select “Properties.”


Click the “Advanced Browse Tab” and check the “Force Network Type” box. Select “Data Highway Plus” from the dropdown list. Click “Apply” and then “OK.”


Now ensure that the DH+ connection of the GW1000 is attached to your network and verify that the DH+ LED is glowing solid GREEN. Click “Refresh” and the nodes defined in the Station Mapping Table will be displayed. (note: nodes not defined in the station mapping table will not be automatically displayed.)


GW1000-ABEIP RSLinx Troubleshooting

You must use the "Ethernet devices" driver, not the Ethernet/IP driver.

In the "Configure Driver" "Station Mapping" table, the word "Driver" must appear next to the

station assigned to the GW1000.

There must be an entry for each PLC station that you want to communicate with. List the IP address of the respective GW1000 in the hostname column.

The station numbers in the mapping table are in decimal, but the RsWho window displays stations in octal.

Be sure to set the Advanced Browse properties to "Force network type to DH+". (right click the driver, and select "Properties")
