MEMO TO ALL HOLIDAY SERIES PARTICIPANTS (Please Read & Respond) SUBJECT: To Continue or Not Based on the number of suggestions that I have received from several of you about the ques-tion of whether we should continue the Holiday Series for another year, I thought this would be the appropriate time to raise the question to ALL of you. In this connection, I am only so-liciting comments from those of you who have supported the Holiday Series. In my opinion you are the only ones whose voices should be heard and not the entire LITPC membership. As you all must be aware by now, I have announced on a number occasions that the Series would terminate with the update issued in June 2015, immediately preceding the Lions Inter-national Convention in Hawaii. This was based on the feelings expressed by the majority of you at the time the Series was started. To be honest, I don’t think any of us ever envisioned the popularity of the Holiday Series and we have only scratched the surface in our salutes to the various holidays. However, should the majority of you respond that it’s time to move on to other things, then we can all take a lot of satisfaction in knowing that we have had a won-derful time in recognizing not only the more well-known holidays but also a number of previ-ously unheard of events. I personally have been honored to have been involved in docu-menting the issues but I want you to know that it has also taken the time and effort of a few who prefer to remain unknown. I have documented the Civil War Series, the Indian Series, the Transportation Series, and the Military Series. However, this one ranks number one with me because it has brought out some of you who have not previously participated in a series and it has not been dominated by any one group of people the way all the others were. Enough said. Now, I need each and everyone of you to PLEASE let me hear from you by responding to this simple and unscientific survey: 1. Do you want to continue the Holiday Series for at least one more year with the ending day of 30 June 2016? If you answer “Yes” that’s all you have to do is let me know. 2. Do you want to end the Holiday Series as previously announced in conjunction with the LCI convention in Hawaii? 3. If you want to discontinue the Holiday Series and would like for us to consider a new one, what would be your choices? Please list your top three in the order of your interest. That’s it.
