TWICE THE WORKOUT, LESS TIME, GREAT RESULTS

Whether you’re an exercise veteran, new to the game or somewhere in between, you’ve probably already learned one of the most important lessons: You have to make time to work out. Chances are your daily schedule isn’t going to open wide anytime soon and give you hour after hour of unfilled time slots to hit the gym. Everyone’s busier than ever, which means creative ways to stay fit - without going into fits - are becoming increasingly desirable.

Resistance training and cardiovascular exercise are two vital components of a successful, healthy fitness routine. Looking to save time and combine exercises? Why not combine the two and get more done - in less time? Trust us, join our certified instructors in one of our cardio/strength classes and you’ll be sweating in no time - and taking your workout to the next level in the process. The time-saving element is that you’re combining movements and taking little to no time in between - which is the modern formula for getting the most out of your workout in the least amount of time possible.

Here is a suggestion on how to get a fat-burning, heart-strengthening, aerobic and muscle toning workout in 60 minutes: Visit the Gym at Peachtree and experience Cardio Sculpt-a very effective class combining Step or Low Impact Movement with weights, Ultimate 60-a class that combines Cardio, Strength, Core & Flexibility, Step Interval- Step with Weight Intervals, or Spin Interval-Spin Intervals + Strength Intervals.

The American College of Sports Medicine’s exercise guidelines for adults recommends 30 minutes of moderate-intensity cardio five to six days per week OR 20 to 60 minutes of vigorous-intensity cardio three days per week. If you only have 3 days a week to exercise, these vigorous classes offer you the format you need to fulfill these guidelines. To see our group fitness schedule, go to www.thegymatpeachtree.org.

Receive a Free Week to Experience the Gym at Peachtree’s Group Fitness Classes. Mention this brochure to get your pass to try several of our combination classes

during your free week.

Our recently renovated Cardio/Weight Room offers new AMT’s, new Lateral X, Arc Trainers, new Precor treadmills, new Precor recumbent bikes, upright bikes, and new Precor elliptical trainers, Octane ellipticals, a seated Octane elliptical & StepMill. These provide a variety of aerobic conditioning opportunities while Cardio Theater allows you to enjoy watching your favorite programs on one of our new 42” TV’s. We have Cybex, Hoist and Body Masters strength training equipment and free weights.

In addition, the facility includes an extra-wide cushioned track for walkers / joggers and 2 full-sized courts for pickup basketball, when available. New members receive a complimentary orientation to our weight room with one of our five certified personal trainers. Just call a trainer for an appointment to be introduced to the cardio/weight area and receive suggestions to make your workouts successful.

For more information about the gym, membership and to receive your one week pass, call Jan Smith at 404-842-2189 or email [email protected]

EXERCISE - THE SECRET TO FEELING YOUNGER | BODY AND BRAIN We need to exercise BOTH our brains and our bodies. By improving the brain’s executive function, we force the brain to give the mind a workout to strengthen the cognitive muscles. We feel younger whenever we learn something new because we are exercising our brain. This can be playing bridge, learning Spanish or following choreography. If we want to feel younger even into our 80s and 90s, we need six days a week of physical exercise. We do not need 6 days of hard, but we do need to do something, even if a walk or a yoga class.

Cardio exercise helps prevent heart disease, the number one killer over all others. Strength exercise helps alleviate pain from arthritis by keeping our muscles strong so we don’t use our joints so much. Flexibility exercise improves our quality of life by improving our balance and agility. SIX days a week, do something for your body and your brain!

T-Tapp is a fitness program that requires no more than eight repetitions per move, does not create inflammation, and has no jumping or other high-impact moves – yet, it builds bone density, improves cardiac function, promotes flexibility and stabil-ity through better kinesthetic awareness. Based on her findings, Teresa Tapp encourages people to include fitness into their day with simple moves that tighten and tone quickly.

Mary Hoffman, Peachtree’s music director, endorses T-Tapp: “After suffering from plantar fasciitis in both feet, I began Teresa Tapp’s walking method, which completely cleared the condition.”

T-Tapp has gained scientific interest in is its ability to effectively activate the body’s lymph system. In August of 2009, 30 pages of T-Tapp exercises were included in Mary Shomon’s book The Menopause Thyroid Solution.
