Menustration

• Onset of Menstruation is known as menarche.

• Menstrual monthly period is commonly known as period.

Common Abbreviated forms doctors use for Menstruation

• The last menstrual period is abbreviated as LMP 2/52 ago this means

the last period was 2 weeks ago.

• The menstrual cycle or its length or frequency is written as 4/28 this

means lasting 4 days and occurring every 28 days

Different ways of describing Menstruation

• Prolonged: lasting more than 4 or 5 days

• Heavy Periods( Menorrhagia): means excessive blood loss often with

the passage of clots- coagulated blood.
