Second layer should be a layer to keep the inside warm like insulation, so it should be fleece or something like that And the outside layer is a water proof wind proof layer. Mark Inglis In 1983 Mark Inglis was climbing on the slopes of New Zealands highest mountain Aoraki Mt Cook When a blizzard hit, they built a cave in the ice to wait for the storm to pass, but they didnt realize that it would be 13 days before they got help, they survived on small amounts of rations, but in the cramped cage he lost circulation in their legs which later had to amputated. Even after they havent stopped climbing, in 2006 he climbed to the summit of Mt. Cook, Inglis became the first double amputee to climb mount Everest, losing five fingertips and more flesh off his legs. In 1914 Sir Ernest Shackelton didnt know that his expedition on his ship the Endurance was crushed in a pack of ice, over two years Shackelton led his crew through Antarctica on foot and on lifeboats to Elephant island where for six months, the main group survived on seal meat and blubber, Shackelton took five men to the north of the island and 800 miles of tundra to the South Georgia island, then hiked with two other for 36 hours across the uncharted intierer of a whaling station to go back to his leftover men. They made it out alive
