FEDERAL RESERVE Factors Affecting Bank Reserves and For immediate release Condition Statement of F.R. Banks November 15, 1962 The average of daily figures of total member bank reserves held during the week ended November l5 decreased a net of $171 million to $19,391 million. Estimated currency and coin of member banks increased $118 million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks decreased $289 million. Estimated required reserves decreased $217 million; and estimated excess reserves increased $46 million to $597 million. Excess reserves exceeded member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks by $4-53 million, compared with the revised figure of $393 million the week before. The principal changes reducing average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were increases of $329 million in currency in circulation, $131 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks, and $32 m illio n in foreign deposits with Federal Reserve Banks. The principal offsetting changes were increases of $90 m illio n in U. S. Government securities bought outright and $53 m illio n held under repurchase agreement, and $53 million in Federal Reserve float, and. a decrease of $2^ million in "other" F* R* accounts (net)* Total Reserve Bank credit increased $182 million. As of Wednesday, November l4, holdings of U. S. Government securities bought outright were $4 million lower than a week earlier, U. S. Government securities held under repurchase agreement were $197 million lower, and member bank borrowings were $471 million lower.     The average of daily figures of total member bank reserves held during the week ended November l5 decreased a net of $171 million to $19,391 million. Estimated currency and coin of member banks increased $118 million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks decreased $289 million.
