32 The basic idea behind our system for medium format photography – combining a love of photography with a mastery of technology – is as valid today as it was in 1941 when Hasselblad began its journey. Founder, Victor Hasselblad, refused to simply copy an aerial surveillance camera at the request of the Swedish government who asked him if he had the skills to produce a camera identical to one that had been captured. He famously said: ‘No, but I can make a better one’.

Delivering superior craftsmanship and image quality is what has made Hasselblad cameras famous for over half a century. Our latest H6D, the new generation of our integrated digital camera, secures that reputation for years to come.

New Electronic Platform The H6D features an all new electronic platform, capable of handling the largest file throughput with speed and ease, using our optimised algorithms for matchless quality files. We built in dual card slotsfor enhanced media capability; a CFast slot for high speed capture and an SD card slot for maximum compatibility.

A wider range of capture speeds, increased ISO and a faster shooting rate, coupled with a USB 3.0 Type-C connector that delivers blisteringly fast file transfer and, of course, Wi-Fi as standard, completes the tool set of this highly specified camera.

The high-definition rear touchscreen LCD brings images to life, delivering a pin sharp live view experience. And if that wasn’t enough, we built an HDMI port for external monitor connectivity.

The already compelling case for medium format capture has just become substantially more attractive.

Superior Image Quality What enables Hasselblad to claim the best image quality when everybody else claims the same thing? The H6D systemis comprised of a number of exceptional components, which, when combined, results in something truly unique -Hasselblad Image Quality. Delivering state of the art image file quality is - and always has been - our primary goal. These are the reasons a Hasselblad H6D system delivers file quality like no other camera.

● The use of the highest quality CMOS sensors available ensuring huge dynamic range, vivid colours and high resolution.

● A unique high performance lens line with the addition of individual and accurate lens enhancement corrections.

●HNCS - Hasselblad Natural Colour System which delivers true and accurate colours.

● True Focus calibration which ensures the optimum sharpness performance.

●Hasselblad Phocus software - The processing engine which ensures the image quality based on advanced proprietary algorithms.

The new 100MP CMOS sensor is almost 50% larger than the 50MP option and allows wide angle lenses to be used at their maximum field of view.

Expanded sensor options - 50MP & 100MP When you have a reputation for manufacturing the world’s most advanced medium format camera systems there is constant expectation of more to come. Continuing the success story of the 50MP CMOS sensor we have added a 100MP option to the range, delivering unmatchable image quality and the ability to resolve the finest detail with our HC & HCD lenses. The 53.4 x 40.0mm

chip will allow landscape and architectural users to get the most from their wide angle lenses. To ensure photographers using this sensor can extract the maximum image quality available we have ensured there is the option of user selectable 14 or 16-bit capture modes, the latter delivers an incredible 15 stops of dynamic range allowing for maximum detail to be captured in both

highlight and shadow areas. The sheer breadth of tonality that can be captured with the H6D-100c has to be seen to be believed.

Coupled with the extended shutter speed and ISO range these sensor units are capable of recording breathtaking detail even in poor conditions.

The upgraded platform means our optimised algorithms are capable of producing matchless quality files with ease. 16-bit colour definition, combined with Hasselblad’s Natural Colour Solution give your images unparalleled depth and sparkle.

In addition, the 100MP sensor boasts an incredible dynamic range of 15 stops, allowing for unprecedented detail capture - from the deepest shadows to the brightest highlights.

The H6D builds on our existing modular design offering flexibility and convenience for a range of photographic needs. This includes the option to use the grip controls to control settings and operation of the sensor unit. E.g. you can control zoom, browsing and menu selection without taking your hand off the grip. The optimised ergonomics offer a tactile and well balanced experience.

DUAL CARD SLOT We have added a second media card slot to the storage options and updated the card types to offer the maximum flexibillity. The options are:

CFast: These cards offer very high speed data transfer rates and are uniquely qualified for use with the high data bandwidths required for HD & UHD video and continuous stills shooting.

SD: An industry standard card with very good data transfer rates and wide ranging compatibilty with existing card readers.

ConnectivityUSB 3.0 TYPE-C CONNECTOR: Fitting a USB 3.0 Type-C connecter allows the user to connect to their chosen computer system without the need to use an adaptor. USB 3.0 also delivers very fast transfer rates of more than five times that of Firewire, ensuring tethered liveview or stills capture and is an experience to be enjoyed.

MINI HDMI & AUDIO I/O PORTS: The addition of a mini HDMI port along with the associated input/output ports enables videographers to display the video feed on a larger external monitor for audio and video files. This will also be of use to photographers using liveview to check composition and focus when using a technical camera.

High Resolution Rear Touch Display

HD & UHD VIDEO CAPTURE The redesign of the electronic platform from the ground up has enabled us to add video functionality to our H6D camera series. The H6D-50c is capable of capturing HD video whilst the H6D-100c is capable of recording UHD (4K) video.

The new 3.0 inch rear display boasts touch capabillity along with user customisation options including assigning your top nine functions to touch buttons. The resolution is now 920K dots and the image display performance delivers clear, colour accurate image reviews and high performance Liveview. The new icon based UI speeds access to even little used functions ensuring full use of the cameras capabilities.

Both systems are able to export their movie captures as H.264 files or Hasselblad’s proprietry raw format which can be converted to Apple ProRes format via Phocus 3.0.

Introducing Video on the H6D

We have added HD/UHD video output to the H6D range of cameras to widen the usability of these units to those photographers that need to capture movement alongside stills.

Coupled with the HDMI and audio facilities on the new cameras the capture of high quality video ouput is simplicity itself.

Phocus 3.0To complement the release of the H6D camera system our raw conversion software has been enhanced with additionaltools to allow more precise application of corrections. Three adjustment tools have been added to allow the user to apply linear or radial gradient corrections or freehand brush corrections to their images via adjustment layers. These will allow the application of exposure, colour and moiré corrections in a more defined

and controlled way. The moiré tool also has the ability to scan the image being worked on to automatically locate probable interference patterns contained within it. These will be highlighted and the user then has the option to apply a global correction or if required a local adjustment via the brush tool. The software has also been updated to support the H6D USB camera connectivity as well as the built in support for the previous Firewire based

camera systems. To support the additon of video, movie playback is available and conversion of the Hasselblad Raw video format to Apple ProRes is supported. Finally the user interface has been updated to a modern and clean look.

Our powerful, free image processing software has been updated and expanded with new features that work seamlessly with the H6D.

The simplest way of processing your Hasselblad raw files, ensuring the best corrections and extraction of the finest details possible.

Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) For serious users who demand the truest colour accuracy the Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) was developed. The system delivers the best possible natural colours from the selected sensor without having to select from multiple presets. The HNCS delivers smoother tonal transitions thanks to its 16-bit colour depth.

ADJUSTMENT LAYERS The Local Adjustment tools allow the user to apply exposure, white balance, colour and moiré corrections via either a radial or linear gradient, and for those finer corrections, a brush

tool - which are all added via adjustment layers. A very handy new feature of the moiré correction is the auto detection. Phocus can now scan your images and automatically detect

moiré interference patterns. You can then choose to correct the interference globally or locally via the brush tool.

H System LensesBuilding on our existing legendary H lens range - which is already 100MP+ compatible - we have increased the performance of the shutter unit allowing for a faster shutter speed of up to 1/2000th of a second, increased durability and consequently improved flash sync.

The Hasselblad HC lens range is built up of twelve lenses plus accessories. These are some of the finest optics available on the market today. These lenses have all gone through a stringent design and production process to ensure they satisfy the demands of high end digital capture, and high resolution sensors, like the H6D-100c. Our whole lens range is 100MP+ compatible as proven with our 200MP Multi-Shot camera. We have also taken the opportunity to update our lens range to give an extended lifespan to the exposure unit which enables us to deliver a shortest exposure time and consequently an improved flash sync speed of 1/2000th second.

THE HASSELBLAD CENTRAL LENS SHUTTERWhile the principal of a leaf shutter is very basic, designing one which is fast, accurate, durable and energy efficient is a great challenge. For a leaf shutter to be effective it must accelerate to its open position as fast as possible and also close as fast as possible, without causing damage to the blades and without using too much power. Also this operation must be reliable for hard professional use.

For the HC lens range it was important to continue to use leaf shutters and to take care of the important points above. This part is built at Hasselblad Sweden. The brilliance of this design has many advantages ...

● Most importantly - Flash Sync at all shutter speeds, which has now been extended to 1/2000th second.

● No energy is required to hold the shutter in an open or closed state as the powerful neodymium magnets do this function. Therefore the power consumption is zero mA.

● The acceleration of the leaf blades is very high, so the time taken for the blades to fully open and close is minimal.

● Calibration of the shutter speeds is not dependent on mechanics or springs and can be set extremely accurately.

● The shutter is in a ‘ready’ state at all times so does not need to be ‘cocked’.

● Virtually no vibration for longer exposures.

● HC & HCD Lens Range

● The current range includes the following focal lengths, all of which include a central lens shutter.

HCD 24mm, HCD 28mm, HC 35mm, HC 50mm, HC 80mm, HC 100mm, HC 120mm, HC 150mm, HC 210mm, HC 300mm, HC 50-110mm HC and the HCD 35-90mm lenses, 1,7x teleconverter and the Macro Converter.

By utilising the HTS 1.5 Tilt/Shift converter, 6 of the H System lenses (24mm to 100mm) can be used for tilt-shift work.

Additionally, there is the CF adapter which will enable theuse of all Carl Zeiss C/CF lenses ensuring legacy device users can still employ the lenses they know and love so dearly.
