DESCRIBE THE PRESENT AND ORIGINAL (IF KNOWN) PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
The John Lochary House is a two story frame house with aluminum siding and shed porches on both the front and rear elevations which was built about 1875 on the south side of Walter's Mill Road about 1/4 mile northwest of Walter's Mill (HA-16) near Chestnut Hill, Harford County, Maryland. The main elevation faces north.
The north elevation has three bays and a center entry. The door and window frames are plain and the sash is 2/2. The shed porch has plain square posts with scroll-sawn brackets resembling ducklings' heads in outline. Similar brackets are found on the front porch of the McCann House (HA-317) at McCann's Corner. The east and west gable ends have interior brick chimneys. A shed porch extends across the entire south elevation. The foundation is stone, the roof is slate, and the probable original weatherboard exterior is now covered with aluminum siding.
