Media text is all media products, such as television programmes, films, CDs, books,

newspapers, website pages, etc. An example of this would be in the last of us and just dance

the difference is that the last of us is a more dark and gloomy game where as just dance is a

bright and vibrant game which stands out for its bright colours unlike the last of us looks

completely the opposite with the dark post-apocalyptic theme.

Semiotics

Semiotics is the study of signs and symbols and their use or interpretation. This is basically

the reading process of what a game represents so in the last of us and just dance would

have things to show it off but at the same time it is what represents the games by the way

people read it just by looking at something.

Genre

Genre is the style or category of art, music, or literature. Examples of this would be in the

last of us which is a survival horror game where as just dance is a fun sing and dance game

where plays are in there own little dance studio but the last of us is a fight for survival

where at moments you can really feel the fear from your characters you play as.

Content

Content is the parts of a game which you play during its duration you can get more added

later on after a game has come out for players to have more things to do on the games an

example of this would be in the Last of us where you play a survival horror where your aim

is to get a young girl who is immune to another city where she is supposed to be the saviour

to you fight to keep her alive. In just dance you get to dance to all the new and old song you

also get access to new songs after the game is out for a while but before that you get

hundreds maybe thousands of songs to dance along to this will keep you entertained for

days.

Construction

This is the game build this is where the games maps and environments are developed it is

the term used to create and develop a game world from the huts to the sky scrapers.

Examples of this would be in the last of us where the world is made to look like an outbreak

has happened and everything is dirty and dark where just dance is made to look like a bright

and vibrant world where you follow a person dancing.

Codes and Conventions

Codes and conventions are a set of guidelines for a specific programming language that

recommend programming style, practices and methods for each aspect of a piece program

written in this language. This would be seen in games like last of us where you will see the

guns gear zombies it’s basically all of the little things like the detail in a way. You can see the

codes and conventions in just dance it would be the songs and stage locations in which you

will dance along to on so they are both pretty much the same when it comes to things like

that.

Modes of Address

Modes of address can be defined as the ways in which relations between addresser and

addressee are constructed in a text. This is used in the last of us with the relationship

between Joel and Ellie where he is almost like a dad to her and she is like his daughter you

can see this threw the banter between them. In just dance the relationship is between the

player and the computer where it tells you what to do and how to do it.

Target Demographic

In marketing and advertising, a target audience is a specific group of people within the

target market at which a product or the marketing message of a product is aimed at. You

can see this in the last of us has a pacific age in which it targets its audience it is for the

more mature person who also likes zombie games with a story. Just dance is aimed at

people who like a dancing fun fanatic style game.
