The thing I look forward to most about my Habitat home — I’m going to have a closet in my room. I never had a closet.

Wishing you a happy holiday season and a new year full of joy

The board, staff and families of Habitat for Humanity - New York City

Most New Yorkers don’t think twice about their closets. But to 11-year-old Gabriella, who currently shares a bedroom with her mother in a small, cramped apartment, even such a small amenity will make a big difference in her life. In her new Habitat-NYC home in the South Bronx, Gabriella will have her very own room . . . and her very own closet!

Now that they will have more space, Gabriella’s mother has promised her a dog. In her drawing, she imagines herself walking in the snow with her mother and her new dog outside their warm, safe, energy-efficient Habitat-NYC home.
