The Mazatlan government list of historical buildings refers to Hacienda SolAmigo by its old name of Edificio de Reynaud and notes the following:

Originally it was a store selling imported French fabrics operated by Don German Baston from 1847 to 1890 when a fire and bankruptcy provided his partner Don Luis Reynaud an opportunity to aquire the building.

Reynaud, a wealthy trader and for many years the French consular to Mazatlan, totally re-modelled the building, finishing in 1906. The exterior of the building was decorated with stone imported from France and feature blue and yellow tiles imported from Spain.

The building served as several stores for European goods and later a passenger railway station and then as the first airline ticket office. The latest re-modelling to Hacienda SolAmigo will be completed in Sep. 2010.

Each of the 10 suites is unique in its Mexico inspired design.

Each suite, along with joint ownership of the common areas of the 10,000 square foot second floor, will be co-owned by up to 12 owners, each owning a 1/12th interest. Each owner is entitled to 4 weeks usage.

To comply with the requirements of Mexican law pertaining to ownership of property within 50 miles of the coast, the title to all the units will be registered to ScotiaBank under the terms of an Irrevocable Trust Declaration. This trust also serves estate planning purposes and thus avoiding the need for a Mexican will.

Since 1993, when the relevant legislation was passed in Mexico, thousands of non-residents have invested and resold hundreds of millions of dollars in Mexican costal properties using this method of ownership.

For those that prefer, we also offer three oceanfront penthouses that share the services of the business center and also the common areas of Hacienda SolAmigo.

These penthouses are a 10 minute walk from Hacienda SolAmigo and are the premium units in the 50 unit vueCentro Historico condo complex.

The “Three Islands” and “Coastline” penthouses are two bedrooms and the “Cliff Divers” is three bedrooms.

These penthouses welcome families of all ages as well as most pets ( Hacienda SolAmigo, including the business centre and common areas, is adults only and no pets).
