S Y S T EMAPPLICATION
non continuousinfill walling system
HADLEY STEEL FRAMING Non-Continuous InfillSystem creates a steel framed structural stud and tracksystem suitable for use in construction projects whereconventional blockwork might be considered. Our lightweight ‘dry’ system offers savings in materialweight, construction time and labour requirements.
The system is fixed between primary structuremembers and is generally located at the ‘slab edge’ tofacilitate the fixing of insulation and external claddingmaterials which can run continuously outside the mainstructure if desired.HADLEY STEEL FRAMING full height stud sectionsare located and screw fixed via the flanges to shallowfloor track section, itself fixed to the floor slab withfixings and intervals determined by structuralcalculations. The deep track head section is similarlyfixed to the underside of the upper floor slab.Deflection within the primary structure is facilitated bya 25-35mm gap between the stud and head track whichtypically allows a stud/head track bearing of 35-45mm.As the stud is not fixed at the head track interface it isnecessary to restrain the stud sections to resist lateraland torsional movement. Our solution is the use of aSlip-Klip deflection head clip, screw fixed to the headtrack at every stud position. This method permits the use of reduced thickness headtrack and minimises both material and fixing time overconventional blocking methods. If blocking is utilised,it should be fixed between the end pairs of studs andbetween every fourth pair.
A number of Cill, Lintel and Jamb configurations areavailable to suit various design criteria.
Services slots (100mm x 35mm) where specified aretypically located 600mm from the ends of stud sectionsto facilitate the passage of services within the wallcavity. It is recommended that consideration is given toprotecting services where they pass through serviceslots against any sharp edges that may occur.
