March 11-12, 2017 / 11-12 de marzo, 2017Second Sunday of Lent
Our Lady of Fatima Statue2017 is the Centenary of the Apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima in Portugal. On May 13, 1917, Our Lady appeared to three children: Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia. Her messages which continued until October 13, 1917 focused on the Call to Holiness especially repentance and praying the Rosary.
One of the highlights of the apparitions was the visitation by an Angel who said, “Do not be afraid. I am the angel of peace. Pray with me.” Then, the Angel gave them a prayer, “My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love you. I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love you.”
Our parish church is blessed with a statue of Our Lady of Fatima, which was brought from the original church building. The statue is now in the process of restoration and will be completed before May 13.
La estatua de Nuestra Señora de FátimaEste año, 2017, es el centenario de la aparición de la Santísima Virgen María en Fátima en
Portugal. El 13 de mayo, 1917 nuestra Señora se les apareció a tres niños: Francisco, Jacinta y Lucía. Sus mensajes cuales continuaron hasta el 13 de octubre de 1917 se centraron en el Llamado a la Santidad, especialmente en el arrepentimiento y rezando el Rosario.
Uno de los aspectos más destacados de las apariciones fue la visitación de un Ángel que dijo: “No tengan miedo. Yo soy el ángel de la paz. Oren conmigo.” Luego, el Ángel les dio una oración, “Dios mío, yo creo, yo te adoro, tengo esperanza y te amo. Te pido perdón por
aquellos sin esperanza, que no creen, no adoran y no te aman”.
Nuestra parroquia ha sido bendecida con una estatua de Nuestra Señora de Fátima, que fue traída del edificio de la iglesia original. La estatua ahora está en el proceso de restauración y será terminada antes del 13 de mayo.
V EncuentroLa Iglesia de Santa Cruz participara en el V Encuentro que es un proceso de reflexión y acción eclesial que invita a todos los católicos en los Estados Unidos a una intensa actividad misio-nera, consulta, desarrollo de liderazgo e identificación de buenas prácticas ministeriales en el espíritu de la Nueva Evangelización. March 11-12Second Sunday of LentThis week we move from temptation in the desert to transfiguration and glory. Early in our Lenten journey we are given a hint of the resurrection. But first we must recognize the truth of St. Paul – that all of us are called to bear our share of hardship for the Gospel. Perhaps the mountain we must climb with Christ is one of sharing our time or ourselves with others. Perhaps we are called to greater simplicity of life and generous shar-ing of our material possessions. Each of us is called to die to self to live for Christ. What death must we die to share in Christ’s glory?

Esta semana nos trasladamos de la tentación en el desierto a la transfiguración y Gloria. Anteriormente, en nuestro viaje de Cuaresma se nos dio una señal de la resurrección. Pero primero debemos reconocer la verdad de San Pablo – que to-dos estamos llamados a cargar nuestra parte de dificultad del
Evangelio. Tal vez la montaña que debemos escalar con Cristo es la de compartir nuestro tiempo y a nosotros mismos con otros. Tal vez estamos llamados a una mayor simplicidad de vida y a compartir generosamente nuestras posesiones materiales. Cada uno de nosotros está llamado a morir por nosotros mismos para vivir por Cristo ¿Qué muerte debemos morir para compartir la gloria de Dios?

There are many opportunities to par-ticipate in the various ministries of our parish, which are organized into groups of prayer, study and service. Please scan the section of the bulletin, which lists the various ministries and reflect upon which area you feel called to participation. For example, you may reserve a time for Eucharistic Adoration in the Chapel or volunteer as a catechist or helper in Religious Education or join the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which helps the poor. In this way, our prayers and acts of penance will bear fruit in the work of holiness!

Hay muchas oportunidades para participar en los distintos ministerios de nuestra parroquia, los cuales están organizan por grupos de: oración, estudio y servicio. Por favor revise la sección del boletín, que enumera los distintos ministerios y reflexione sobre el área a la cual se siente llamado(a) a participar. Por ejemplo, puede reservar un tiempo para la Adoración Eucarística en la Capilla, o apúntese como voluntario o catequista en Educación Religiosa, o únase a la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl, cual ayuda a los pobres. De esta manera, ¡nuestras oraciones y nuestros actos de penitencia darán fruto en las obras hacia la santidad!
