HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES What size paper do I need? Bigger sizes than stated here are much easier and Triangle Paper really isn’t necessary for accuracy. U U U U U U The formula for cutting HSTs is finished size + 7 / 8 EXAMPLE: If you want a 1½” finished HST Add 7 / 8 ” to 1 + 4 / 8 = 1 + 11 / 8 = 2 3 / 8 ” to cut… this adds the ¼” seam allowances in. REMEMBER… For the number of HST’s to make, if using Triangle Paper - 1 square of Triangle Paper makes 2-HSTs… or refer to the math on the sheet to help you.

HALF SQUARE TRIANGLESWhat size paper do I need?

If your pattern states to cut: 13/8” squares - you will need ½” Triangle Papers 15/8” squares - you will need ¾” Triangle Papers 17/8” squares - you will need 1” Triangle Papers

21/8” squares - you will need 1¼” Triangle Papers 23/8” squares - you will need 1½” Triangle Papers 25/8” squares - you will need 1¾” Triangle Papers 27/8” squares - you will need 2” Triangle Papers

31/8” squares - you will need 2¼” Triangle Papers 33/8” squares - you will need 2½” Triangle Papers

These are all the sizes we offer…but you can see the pattern forming?

Bigger sizes than stated here are much easier andTriangle Paper really isn’t necessary for accuracy.

The formula for cutting HSTs is finished size + 7/8”

EXAMPLE: If you want a 1½” finished HSTAdd 7/8” to 1 + 4/8 = 1 + 11/8 = 23/8” to cut…

this adds the ¼” seam allowances in.

REMEMBER…For the number of HST’s to make, if using Triangle Paper -

1 square of Triangle Paper makes 2-HSTs…or refer to the math on the sheet to help you.
