Welcome to the Hammonds of Knutsford ‘World of Spirits’
Our ‘World of Spirits’ brings together a selection of some of the finest alcoholic drinks on
the planet, many of these have never previously been available in the UK.
From Gin to Vodka to Rum to Cognac to American Whiskey the ‘World of Spirits’ has
been assembled to offer you, whether you operate a bar, wholesale or retail business a
selection that will set you apart from the competition.
Many of these spirits are produced by small craft distillers who take immense pride in
the liquid they make. From a chocolatier in Belgium making a gin infused with Cacao nibs
to a distiller who only makes his gin when there is a full moon our ‘World of Spirits’ has
some truly individual products.
We will be adding further products to our ‘World of Spirits’ brochure over the coming
months as and when we find new brands which fit with the ethos behind this range.
Please visit our website where you will find a ‘World of Spirits’ link on the main menu as
any new additions will be posted on here.
You can also follow us on Twitter using our handle @hammondsofkford as we also post
details of any new arrivals on here.
Should you be the owner of a brand that you feel would make a new addition to the
‘World of Spirits’ then please do contact us with details and pricing so we may consider
your product.
Swiss Blended Gin is full of character, with a herbal note and very fresh and well-balanced. It comes
with great complexity and seems very soft and harmonic even when drunk pure. The 18 botanicals
can clearly be smelled and tasted. This gin, containing 45 % vol. can be drunk pure. It shows its
power, however, when tonic is added.
Whereas most gins lose their aromas when tonic is added, tonic water opens up the nginious! Gin so
it stays present all the time. This very gin is the basis for the cask finished variant, nginious! Cocchi
Vermouth Cask Finish containing 43 % vol. The maturation in the vermouth cask adds notes of bitter
orange and oriental spices, yet the herbal note that is typical for nginious! is not lost. The optimal
counterpart to the herbal style is created in nginious! Summer Gin which is a fruity-floral variant with
42 % vol.
A Swiss Gin?
Switzerland is usually associated with the Alps and an
excellent quality of craftsmanship, next to chocolate and
cheese. Characterised by the typical Swiss herbal taste
and produced with utmost care, nginious! meets highest
demands as to its origin.
nginious! Smoked & Salted Gin
Like all nginious! Gins, Smoked & Salted Gin has first been distilled in
separate batches and subsequently blended.
The real surprise, however, is the use of chestnuts in an own batch. Before
the maceration these were intensively cold-smoked for 40 hours. They lend
the nginious! Smoked & Salted Gin its special smoky flavour.
For the final refinement of the blended gin a rare smoked stone salt from the
Swiss Alps is added.
nginious! Smoked & Salted Gin is produced only once a year. 3000 bottles
were created in 2015.
A unique, low-temperature distillation process
combining traditional systems with the latest
gastronomic techniques.
This preserves the essence and freshness of our
selection of Mediterranean (lemon, citron,
laurel) and exotic botanicals (kaffir lime leaves,
black cardamom, coriander seeds), which
combined in just the right proportions with
juniper, result in unparalleled flavour and aroma.
GINRAW is made in small batches to ensure the
excellence of quality and taste in each bottle,
that defines our reason for being.
Originally established in 1856 in Paris, Kentucky, Chicken Cock quickly became one of the larger bourbon brands of the 19th century. Forced to move production to Canada when Prohibition started, Chicken Cock was
smuggled across the border in tin cans, where it rose to fame as a popular serve at some of the era’s most famous speakeasies, including the legendary Cotton Club in Harlem.
At the Cotton Club, when patrons ordered a “Chicken Cock,” waiters would present the tin can tableside and ceremoniously open it to reveal the bottle of Chicken Cock Whiskey inside. Duke Ellington writes about Chicken Cock in his memoirs, referring to the “brand that was served in a tin can.” At a rumored $15 per bottle Chicken
Cock wasn’t for the light of pocket, but it was a small price to pay to secure a prime table near some of the greatest musicians of the era.
After prohibition, multiple attempts were made to bring “the famous old brand” back to its former glory, but
shifting drinking habits caused it, along with many significant American Whiskey brands of the 19th and early 20th
centuries, to disappear. It is thus with great pride that we have the honour to reintroduce to the world this once
famous (and we hope soon to be famous again) brand, paying homage to its great history while embracing the
future with a bold new look and flavour.
Meermaid Infused Rum is a very special spirit. Born from a love of
rums and tiki culture, it is the brainchild of rum guru Stefan Walz
(who sourced rums for the former Tabou Tiki Room in Berlin).
Walz saw a niche in the market for infused rum while at Tabou,
and there started experimenting. The current recipe contains
seventeen ingredients, including fresh fruits, dried fruit peels, and
spices (see if you can guess the mystery fruit !). There have been
five batches of Meermaid made so far, with each batch growing
exponentially to the 1000 bottles per batch made currently. Walz
works with a rum distributor, who blends Jamaican and
Tobagonian rums in the perfect base to then be infused in
Berlin. Each batch of infusions is handmade and supervised for
quality. The bottles are sleek and elegant, made of black
lacquered ceramic. Walz's favourite cocktail is a rum sour, and we
thoroughly enjoyed Meermaid in Mai Tais
THE BAY Seasoned Vodka captures the spirit of the Chesapeake bay.
A four times distilled vodka, THE BAY is highlighted by a blend of classic seafood seasonings familiar to lovers of the eastern shore for generations. Notes of celery seed,
black and red pepper, nutmeg, cardamom and other proprietary spices blend seamlessly with sea salt and our handcrafted vodka.
The result is a smooth and savoury vodka
If you’ve been searching for the perfect savoury vodka, look no further than Philadelphia Distilling’s THE BAY Seasoned Vodka. As the name suggests, this flavourful vodka pays homage to classic Chesapeake Bay spices, making it the perfect addition to
this weekend’s Bloody Marys.
THE BAY is not only great for delicious Bloody Marys, but it also works perfectly for oyster shooters, Micheladas and in classic cocktails like the Martini. If you need more
inspiration, be sure to check out these other fun cocktails that feature THE BAY.
The French Quarter, locally known as Vieux Carré, is the soul of New Orleans, Louisiana. This city is replete with culture, architectural beauty and culinary arts. Philadelphia Distilling pays tribute to the unique and
colourful history of Absinthe in New Orleans with the release of Vieux Carré Absinthe Supérieure. The first batch of Vieux Carré was released on December 31, 2008. It is the first legal absinthe to be distilled,
bottled and sold on the east coast of the United States in nearly 100 years.
Vieux Carré is batch distilled using a “double maceration” process featuring the mysterious Grande Wormwood and Petite Wormwood. Green and Star Anise, Fennel Doux Provence, Melissa, Genepi,
Hyssop and Spearmint complete the complex flavour profile. Vieux Carré is an original artisan spirit that combines historic processes with a modern expertise.
Vieux Carré’s flavour and colour are derived exclusively from 100% natural herbs. The flavour is complex with both familiar and intriguing notes. The deep green colour is reminiscent of a vintage jewel. The spirit is not over filtered, preserving the flavours extracted through the natural colouring process. A miniscule
herbal particulate is natural if found.
The rich louche slowly builds as the essential oils refract light and create a dynamic opalescence. With the
addition of chilled water the complexity of each herbal layer will come to fruition. The warm, long and
lingering finish is harmonious, complex and subtle.
LaVie simply means the spirit, or essence, of life, a name that perfectly embodies the philosophy of this
unique vodka. Only the finest natural ingredients are used to ensure a level of unparalleled purity and
balance is achieved in every bottle.
Natural Wheat is to vodka what grapes are to wine: the quality and provenance of the grain being of the upmost
importance. The wheat is what gives the finished spirit its subtle character and LaVie™ uses only the
highest quality French wheat available.

This water is well known for having a smooth, mild taste and for being low in negative minerals such as
iron, salt, and nitrates.
Artisanal LaVie™ is distilled seven times before being micro-oxygenated in order to remove any impurities that may
still be present in the spirit. Finally, the vodka is charcoal filtered to ensure the unique character of
LaVie™ is allowed to shine unimpaired
LaVie™ has a delicate, floral nose and the faint aroma of freshly cut hay. The palate is silky smooth with subtle notes of lavender, pine, and a hint of black pepper. the finish leaves a crisp and refreshing citrus finale to complete an experience both uplifting and pure.
Because of its clarity, LaVie™ is the perfect base for a host of cocktails whatever their style. A natural
match for fruits or herbal flavors, LaVie™ is also at home in more traditional dry cocktails. To
experience and savor LaVie’s character to the full try it chilled, on the rocks. You won’t be disappointed!
XOLATO Gin is an innovative Gin based on
Columbian cocoa beans, Piedmonte hazelnuts, Avola
almonds, wild Madagascan chillies and vanilla pods.
This is a real first!
After having tried out 14 different recipes, Peter
(Xolato) and Patrick (De Moor) produced a unique
Gin concept.
In addition to the juniper berry, 45 other herbs and
several of the best spices known worldwide are
used. These flavours are also used in the Xolato
chocolates. For instance, the most aromatic
Columbian cocoa beans, Madagascan wild chillies
and vanilla pods, the world famous Piedmonte
hazelnuts and Avola almonds of renowned quality.
The name X-GIN refers to the origin of cocoa beans
that were used by Incas and Mayas to brew a god’s
nectar of which they believed that this was a drink
destined for Gods and Kings, that it had the gift of
long life, extra intelligence and that it also was an
aphrodisiac. They called this brew Xocolatl (our
name Xolato is derived from this word), the X stands
for Xolato.
Perfect serve is over ice with Thomas Henry Indian
Tonic water. Then garnished with a sprinkle of the
Cocoa nibs (which are supplied with each bottle) and
a sliced strawberry.
Bluecoat Barrel Finished Gin is produced by aging Bluecoat American Dry Gin® in new
American oak barrels for a minimum of three months providing a unique, well rounded and
complex spirit.
“The finishing process utilizes charred American Oak barrels to
round and soften the gin, introducing hints of caramel,
vanilla and toffee without sacrificing juniper or pepper
notes.” – Bill Tambussi, Distiller
It is a great gin alternative to classic cocktails
such as the Negroni, Martinez and Old
Fashioned.
All gins begin with juniper berries and Bluecoat is no exception.
However, Bluecoat exclusively utilizes organic juniper berries which
transmit spicy, earthy notes as opposed to the pungent pine-tree
flavors of regular berries. A premium blend of organic American citrus
peels and spices complements the rich juniper notes, giving Bluecoat
it's classic citrusy finish.
It is a revolutionary spirit that leads with refreshingly sweet aromatics,
giving way to soft and earthy juniper notes. The body is intensely
smooth with a complex depth of flavors that reveal themselves as they
permeate the palate. The bright finish is exceptionally long and
completes an experience that is incredibly pleasing to the senses.
The 5th Gin Range was designed to appeal to all gin consumers, offering four distinctive varieties:
Water - Floral
Earth - Citrus
Fire - Red Fruits
Air - London Dry Gin
5th Water
This expression sees 5th Air further endowed with
floral spirit and a mild spicy aroma from the infusion of
rose and violet petals and a mixture of spices, with
more juniper than usual. Its wonderful turquoise colour
reminds us of its classic side.
Tasting notes: Bright, turquoise blue in colour, herbal aromas and spicy scent, pleasant on the palate with
soft floral notes, juniper and coriander.
5th Earth
Gin infused with citrus peel: orange, lemon, tangerine and grapefruit. Ideal for consumers and traditional gin
and tonic with lemon squeezed. It doesn’t contain citric acid, so it maintains the fizz of the tonic as well as
being very refreshing and digestive. Its natural taste and its unique colour leaves no one indifferent.
Tasting notes: Deep yellow in colour, lemon and
grapefruit aromas, powerful acidity on the palate with hints of lemon and orange, and a sweet tangerine
aftertaste.
5th Air
This is our base gin, a very pure London Dry Gin, with which we make the whole of the 5th range. Ideal for
those seeking a neutral but multipurpose dry gin.
Tasting notes: Transparent with a silver trim, a subtle scent of juniper, soft and neutral flavour with a hint of
sourness.
5th Fire
Gin infused with red fruits, blackberry, blueberry, currant and strawberry. Sweet and silky. Ideal for the uninitiated and those seeking a pleasant, fruity gin.
Tasting notes: Bright pink in colour, aromas of berries, hint of strawberry and gooseberry on the palate with a
mild but pleasant and bitter, juniper aftertaste.
The Campbells of MOONPIE are 5th generation bakers. The Beam brothers of LIMESTONE BRANCH
DISTILLERY are 7m generation whiskey makers. These two families share some iconic Southern
history. In the early 1900s, MoonPie started as the "workingman's lunch" in the coal mines of
Kentucky. Steve & Paul Beam's family made some of the finest sour mash whiskey in America based
on recipes that date g-back to the 1700s. THE AUTHENTIC SMALL-BATCH LIQUOR BEHIND THIS LABEL
is the result of the Campbells' MoonPie meeting the Beams' MoonShine.
One taste and you, too, will be a member of our families.
Thomas Jefferson “Jeff” Pottinger was the grandson of Captain Samuel Pottinger Sr. who established the first pioneer outpost in 1781 in southern Nelson County. Our T.J. Pottinger Sugar Shine can therefore
traces its roots back to 1781.
While other sugar shines are often criticized for being tasteless, Emily Hutto of The Hooch Life says, “You’ll forget all that once you take a sip of this delicious spirit. It’s super sweet, but not overpowering.”
T.J. Pottinger Sugar Shine from the Lymestone Branch distillery is crafted and distilled using traditional Appalachian moonshine techniques, minus the woods. Each one-barrel batch Sugar Shine uses non-GMO White Heirloom Corn and Sugar Can that is are mashed and fermented for 5 days. After fermentation, the
Sugar Shine, is distilled using a 150-gallon hand-hammered copper pot. For the all natural flavour and colour varieties, their is one pound of actual fruit per gallon that is steeped and infused into the T.J.
Pottinger Sugar Shine for another 5 days.
This process produces some of the finest moonshine in the US.
When creating their new drink, Locksley Distilling Company
identified specific flavours and textures that they wanted to include.
This gave them a clearly defined goal from the get go.
With Sir Robin, their initial vision was of a multi-purpose sipping gin
that fell somewhere between a London Dry style and an Old Tom.
They wanted to produce a gin with a clean, yet rounded mouthfeel,
something that could be served on its own or as part of a great
cocktail.
It took them around eight months to arrive at the final recipe,
testing over a hundred or so distillations and blends before coming
back to the magical Number Sixty One.
Sir Robin of Locksley® Distilled Artisan Gin has incredible versatility –
one of the very few (if not only) true English sipping gins, try it neat
or chilled. It makes a mean G&T, and a wonderful martini (dry or
dirty), as well as numerous other cocktails.
In a nod to their geographical location, it is named in honour of a
favourite Yorkshire lad and local Sheffield legend, Robin Hood.
Tasting Notes
Up-front juniper with more delicate aromas of elderflower bubbling
through. Deliciously smooth and round on the palate – warm cassia
notes soothed with dandelion. Pink grapefruit adds an underlying
sweetness and lingering citrus finish. Balanced yet distinctively
unique.
Garnish is a personal choice and very subjective, but the distiller
likes it on its own or with pink grapefruit peel for an extra citrus
blast.

Mombasa Club Gin was inspired by the eponymous private social club on the Kenyan coast,
opposite island of Zanzibar, which imported a gin from England for consumption by its
members.
Mombasa Club Gin began in the end of the XIX Century, in the heart of Victorian times.British trade domination was largely due to the discovery of new routes towards India, routes found by those first romantic English explorers, when their spirit for adventure and their enthusiasm for travel in the Far East led them to places that were both geographic and human paradises. The coastal city of Mombasa, located in front of the Island of Zanzibar, due to its strategic position, soon became the main port and commercial centre for the whole of East Africa. This was where the first private social club was set up: Namely the mythical Mombasa Club. It was founded in 1885 by officials of The British East Africa Protectorate and was exclusively for Englishmen, those either born in the United Kingdom or who held permanent or temporary official positions or, who carried out work for the Imperial East Africa Company.
The Mombasa Club was an essential part of life and became famous and popular as a
welcoming, idyllic meeting point allowing for leisure, where its members held lively debates or
interchanged news, whilst sipping their Mombasa Club gin & tonics (an exclusive gin from
England that was specially distilled for the consumption and pleasure of its members).
Distilled four times with botanicals including
angelica root, cassia bark and coriander seeds. A
spicy gin with a hint of sweetness.
It is believed that during the pre-Colombian era in Mexico, Indian tribes traveling in the present-day, western state of Jalisco discovered and revered the sweet, hypnotic “honey juice” originating from the heart of the
indigenous agave plant.
For two centuries, the process of crafting the honey juice into tequila has been perfected into an art form
that continues to be passed down from generation to generation and with that, their love for the soil and the taste for good tequila.
Today, the Gonzãlez family-owned distillery leads the way in taking tradition to new heights with our line of ultra premium tequilas. With three varieties, the crisp, light Blanco, the mellow, barrel-aged Reposado and
the luxurious, full-bodied, barrel-aged Añejo, there’s a taste for every connoisseur of fine spirits.
Over four generations, we have been hard at work. Perfecting the art and craft of growing agave and distilling tequila. To this day, we instill age-old processes and values handed down from generation to generation. So
every sip and every bottle represents the continuation of the very legacy we’ve worked so hard to create.
“ Our Raw Indian Tonic is the ultimate foundation for mixing a sterling Gin & Tonic but we have taken
great care to create a beverage that can also be savoured as a soda drink. “

A long-lasting bitter taste which is the Syndrome signature flavour and the result of using natural
