DESCRIPTION

We wash our hands to make them clean, that is, free from dirt, marks or stains. From a spiritual stand point those marks or stains represent sin. To spiritually have “clean hands” you must refrain from sin and obey the commandments of God. When a person obeys all of god’s laws, this individual has a pure heart. So having clean hands means to have a pure heart.

TRANSCRIPT

Hand Wa!ing“Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean

hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.”

(Psalms 24: 3-4)

Hand Washing is an important sacrament that the scriptures indicate was practiced before, during and after the coming of Christ

What is a sacrament?....a ceremony or physical act that represents holiness, perfection & sacrifices of righteousness

This presentation will unveil the spiritual meaning & the importance of hand washing

In the 8th chapter of Leviticus it speaks of the holy sacraments and offerings that Moses hand to handle

Moses brought aaron and his sons into the temple and they had to physically wash before they could handle the sacraments and offerings (Leviticus 8: 6 & 27 -28)

Today, we do not offer animals as a sacrifice unto the Lord because Christ is our ultimate sacrifice

We do however physically wash our hands when handling holy sacraments, such as the communion, in order to pattern ourselves after the scriptures

In this presentation, we place special emphasis on the spiritual meaning of washing hands

Hand washing is still important today

We wash our hands to make them clean, that is, free from dirt, marks or stains

From a spiritual stand point those marks or stains represent sin

To spiritually have “clean hands” you must refrain from sin and obey the commandments of God

When a person obeys all of god’s laws, this individual has a pure heart

So having clean hands means to have a pure heart

Remember that God instructed Aaron and his sons to wash their hands before handling any offerings or sacraments of the lord

As mentioned before, we no longer offer animals but we still present offerings unto god

These offerings come in the form of prayers, songs, testimonies and any other works on behalf of the lord

It is important to make sure our hearts are pure & that we spiritually have “clean hands” when presenting these offerings

Only then will god accept them

What you truly believe and how you really feel about god comes from your heart

Your heart measures your righteousness & will dictate what you say and do on a daily basis

Christ warns us of this..... “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:” (Matthew 15: 19)

God knows the hearts of every individual on this earth and will judge accordingly

More to be said about a pure heart

Many if not all have heard of the phrase “Fake it til you make it”

This philosophy may be helpful in the world but it will not help you achieve eternal life from god

There are many individuals that profess they love god, they may even do goodly works, whether they be common or for the lord

but they do not obey all of god’s laws and still continue to live a life of sin

What did christ say about these people?.....”This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” (Matthew 15: 8)

“Fake it til you make it”

If we live by this philosophy we may appear clean and righteous to our family members, friends, church members or strangers but not unto god

Christ also stated this....”Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.” (Matthew 23: 25-26 & 28)

Let us remember the words of our Savior and strive to have a pure heart or a person who spiritually has clean hands....this is an individual that obeys all of God’s laws

“Fake it til you make it”
