Program aimsThis is a generalist program aimed at equipping students with foundation understanding of how organisationsoperate in different environmental contexts, private, and public. It exposes students to a range of issues andchallenges faced by business as it strives to make organisations successful, sustainable and responsiblestakeholders in society.
Program objectivesOn the successful completion of the Diploma of Business Administration graduates will be able to:
● demonstrate foundation knowledge of the general business concepts, processes and principles relevantto the functioning of various types of organisations
● demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal skills, and foundation knowledge of the relevantprinciples in making decisions in a business environment

Admission requirementsTo be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
● Year 12 English [4 SA] or equivalent.● Admission to the Diploma of Business Administration is in accordance with University's Admissions
Policy for undergraduate programs.
All students are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements.
If students do not meet the English language requirements they may apply to study a University-approvedEnglish language program. On successful completion of the English language program, students may beadmitted to an award program.
Program fees
Commonwealth supported placeA Commonwealth supported place is where the Australian Government makes a contribution towards the costof a students' higher education and students pay a student contribution amount, which varies depending onthe courses undertaken. Students are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via the Course FeeFinder.
Commonwealth Supported students may be eligible to defer their fees through a Government loan calledHECS-HELP.
Domestic full fee paying placeDomestic full fee paying places are funded entirely through the full fees paid by the student. Full fees varydepending on the courses that are taken. Students are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via theCourse Fee Finder.

Program aimsThis is a generalist and collaborative program offered by the Open Access College and the Faculty of Business,Education, Law and Arts. The first four courses provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge thatare essential for success at the university level of study. The remaining courses from the Faculty of Business,Education, Law and Arts provide foundation business knowledge and skills in the series of business coursesstudied.
Program objectivesOn the successful completion of the Diploma of Business Foundations graduates will have:

Admission requirementsTo be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
There is no specified minimum educational achievement entrance standard.
Normally, to be eligible for enrolment in the program a person will have attained an age of at least 18 yearsin the year of the proposed enrolment.
Students will need to complete the online application form for entry to the Diploma Programs. All applicantsare also required to complete online diagnostic tests in Mathematics, e-literacy, and English CommunicationSkills. Applicants will then be given advice detailing whether the Diploma Program is the most appropriatepathway for them to undertake. Some students may be advised to undertake the Tertiary Preparation Program.
All students are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements.

There are four compulsory courses:
● DIP1000 E-Literacy for Contemporary Society● DIP1001 Academic and Professional English● DIP1002 Strategies for Successful Study● DIP1004 Mathematical Literacy
DIP1000 E-Literacy for Contemporary Society and DIP1002 Strategies for Successful Study are co-requisites:they must be studied together, and they must be the first courses undertaken.
For part-time students, DIP1001 Academic and Professional English and DIP1004 Mathematical Literacymust be studied after DIP1000 and DIP1002. All four courses can be taken in a single semester for thosepursuing full-time studies.
Foundation studies in Business courses
After completing the four compulsory courses students can select four Business courses from the followingselection:
● ACC1101 Accounting for Decision-Making● CIS1000 Information Systems Concepts● LAW1101● MGT1000 Organisational Behaviour● MKT1001 Introduction to Marketing
Program completion requirementsTo successfully complete the Diploma of Business Foundations students must successfully complete the fourcompulsory core courses, and also four courses of specialisation.
Required time limitsStudents have a maximum of three years to complete this program.
IT requirementsStudents must have reliable and ready access to email and the Internet. Broadband access is required for thefour compulsory core courses. Students should have access to a scanner for DIP1004 Mathematical Literacy.For information technology requirements, please see the minimum computing standards.
Students are able to enrol in any offered mode of a course (on-campus, external or online), regardless of theprogram mode of study they enrolled in.
Students undertaking the Diploma of Business Foundations must complete the four compulsory courses first.The recommended enrolment pattern for the four compulsory core courses is as follows:

Program structureStudents enrolling into the Associate Degree of Business can choose courses from the majors and minors fromwithin the BCOM Bachelor of Commerce, BBUS Bachelor of Business and BBAD Bachelor of BusinessAdministration programs. Students undertaking an area of study from within the BCOM would complete theBCOM core, while students undertaking an area of study from the BBUS would complete the BBUS core. Astudent undertaking a generalist area of study in line with the BBAD would undertake the BBAD core.
The Associate Degree of Business has the following structure:
● 8 core courses● 8 courses from named business related discipline areas in Business and Commerce.
Please note: Subject to Faculty of Business, Education, Law and Arts approval, up to four courses may betaken from other discipline areas.
The Associate Degree of Business is comprised of 16 units as follows:

The purpose of the core courses isto expose business students to fundamental concepts and methods and the diversity of subject matter that theywill encounter in their studies. CreditCredit may be granted on the basis of completed equivalent study from a recognised institution. In order forcredit to be granted, the claim must meet the following specific requirements:
● the course was passed within five years prior to the application (courses up to 10 years old may beconsidered if evidence is provided that the applicant has been employed in that field)
● the course passed is sufficiently equivalent in objectives, content and weighting to a course prescribedin the Associate Degree of Business course, or alternatively, the course is suitable as an elective
● where the student has taken out an award from a recognised institution and is claiming credit on the basisof courses completed to meet the requirements of that program, the maximum credit allowable on thebasis of such courses will be no greater than eight courses for the Associate Degree of Business
● credit approved in this program will not automatically apply to other programs offered by the USQ.
Claims for credit should be submitted prior to or at the time of enrolment in a course. Each claim will beassessed on individual merit in line with USQ policy. Please contact the Faculty of Business, Education, Lawand Arts for further information.
Students are able to enrol in any offered mode of a course (on-campus, external or online), regardless of theprogram mode of study they enrolled in.

Program aimsThe Associate Degree of Business and Commerce program is designed to prepare graduates to undertakepara-professional work in business and commerce and as a pathway for further learning. Australian Qualifications FrameworkThe Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is a single national, comprehensive system of qualificationsoffered by higher education institutions (including universities), vocational education and training institutionsand secondary schools. Each AQF qualification has a set of descriptors which define the type and complexityof knowledge, skills and application of knowledge and skills that a graduate who has been awarded thatqualification has attained, and the typical volume of learning associated with that qualification type.

Admission requirementsTo be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
● Have achieved a minimum Overall Position (OP) 17, tertiary entrance rank 65 or equivalent qualification.^
● English Language Proficiency requirements for Category 2.
Applicants are advised to also note the following:
● Assumed knowledge expectations: English and Mathematics A .
All students are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements.
If students do not meet the English language requirements they may apply to study a University-approvedEnglish language program. On successful completion of the English language program, students may beadmitted to an award program.
These are determined by the University for specific programs each Semester. The 2019 OP and tertiaryentrance ranks are based on agreed QTAC schedules which assess formal study at Year 12 or equivalent

Domestic full fee paying placeDomestic full fee paying places are funded entirely through the full fees paid by the student. Full fees varydepending on the courses that are taken. Students are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via theCourse Fee Finder.
Domestic full fee paying students may be eligible to defer their fees through a Government loan called FEE-HELP provided they meet the residency and citizenship requirements.
Australian citizens, Permanent Humanitarian Visa holders, Permanent Resident visa holders and New Zealandcitizens who will be resident outside Australia for the duration of their program pay full tuition fees and arenot eligible for FEE-Help.

a Diploma of Business and Commerce (DPBC) if they have completed eight courses with a minimum of fourcore courses, and four other courses from the Associate Degree of Business and Commerce.
CreditCredit may be granted on the basis of completed equivalent study from a recognised institution. In order forcredit to be granted, the claim must meet the following specific requirements:
● the course was passed within five years prior to the application (courses up to 10 years old may beconsidered if evidence is provided that the applicant has been employed in that field)
● the course passed is sufficiently equivalent in objectives, content and weighting to a course prescribedin the Associate Degree of Business and Commerce course, or alternatively, the course is suitable as anelective
● where the student has taken out an award from a recognised institution and is claiming credit on the basisof courses completed to meet the requirements of that program, the maximum credit allowable on thebasis of such courses will be no greater than eight courses for the Associate Degree of Business andCommerce
● credit approved in this program will not automatically apply to other programs offered by the USQ.
Claims for credit should be submitted prior to or at the time of enrolment in a course. Each claim will beassessed on individual merit in line with USQ policy. Please contact the Faculty of Business, Education, Lawand Arts for further information.

Program fees
Commonwealth supported placeA Commonwealth supported place is where the Australian Government makes a contribution towards the costof a students' higher education and students pay a student contribution amount, which varies depending onthe courses undertaken. Students are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via the Course FeeFinder.
Commonwealth Supported students may be eligible to defer their fees through a Government loan calledHECS-HELP.
Domestic full fee paying placeDomestic full fee paying places are funded entirely through the full fees paid by the student. Full fees varydepending on the courses that are taken. Students are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via theCourse Fee Finder.

Program completion requirementsTo be eligible to graduate with the award Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business, students musthave successfully completed the core business courses, Accounting major courses, Sustainable Business majorcourses, and Business Administration courses (32 courses in total).
Required time limitsStudents have a maximum of 9 years to complete this program.
