A WAY TO PLAY. A WAY TO GROW.

MISSIONBARÇA Academy is the football academy that follows the FC Barcelona model aimed at boys and girls from 5 to 18 years of age.

The objective is to provide the best environment for young soccer players to reach their maximum potential through integral training.

We teach players the basic concepts of football in order for them to be able to deal successfully with sporting challenges in the future, while also teaching them the values that are so representative of FC Barcelona.

A WAY TO PLAY. A WAY TO GROW.

VALUESHumility

Often when athletes, and people in general, achieve the goals they have set for themselves, they start feeling superior in physical, moral, economic and other terms, and this leads them to forget certain values that have in all probability helped them to achieve those very goals: effort, perseverance, self-control, etc.

We are all aware of how FC Barcelona has dealt with its victories of recent years, and how it has always shown humility (and also such values as effort, rigour, responsibility and others) to win respect in its field, and among its opponents, and generally with everyone.

Humility probably consists of knowing how to be clear about one’s values, and to maintain them and defend them even in situations where you are clearly superior and more successful.

A WAY TO PLAY. A WAY TO GROW.

VALUESEffort

There are many social models that avoid effort and advocate instead luck, opportunism and immediate triumph. However, effort is a value that can take us to unthinkable heights and lead us to achieve targets and objectives that may at other times appear distant or inaccessible.

Dedication, rigour, constancy, sacrifice and perseverance all bear fruit, while luck and the search for a quick win are often fleeting and momentary.

Note that at school, teachers throughout time have promoted a culture of effort as the vehicle for academic development and personal achievement, and this helps to construct new social models.

AUSTIN | HANDBOOK 2020 / 2021

A WAY TO PLAY. A WAY TO GROW.

VALUESAmbition

Ambition is the desire to achieve the maximum performance and do things not only well but also as well as is feasibly possible and to improve every day.

This value is applicable both to individuals and to groups. It involves the use of a web of values as varied as excellence, patience, discipline, order, motivation and responsibility.

Indeed, ambition invokes and requires a broad system of values and, in turn, is related to a job being done well, effort and rigour.

Regarding targets, ambition is probably the surest way of achieving them, for it is the impulse to grow.

Page 7: Handbook Barça Academy Austin 20 21 copia · AUSTIN | HANDBOOK 2020 / 2021 A WAY TO PLAY. A WAY TO GROW. MISSION BARÇA Academy is the football academy that follows the FC Barcelona

AUSTIN | HANDBOOK 2020 / 2021

A WAY TO PLAY. A WAY TO GROW.

VALUESRespect

Respect for others is one of the basic requirements of democratic life and the capacity to live in society. It affects the individual and has both a social and a collective dimension.

Respect is a fundamental part of sport, for sport generates situations of tension that have to be resolved almost instantaneously.

There is therefore a need, above rules and standards, for this value to be present in order to guarantee cordial and correct interrelations between people.

In sport, respect is needed in similar situations to those where it is demanded in wider society, but the intensity of the moment implies that the presence or absence of respect can be very obvious and can affect the development of the situation or event.

A WAY TO PLAY. A WAY TO GROW.

VALUESTeamwork implies that the subject forms part of a group and that, as a member of the same, becomes an active element that acts on behalf of the whole (sometimes even to the detriment of their own individuality).

There are undeniable benefits of knowing that you are part of a team and this requires the learning and accentuation of many other values.

AUSTIN| 2020 / 2021

THE STORY OF THE BAAIn 2015 ISL Agency (sports management company) became one of the official partners of FC Barcelona. This partnership was formed to

provide a truly BARÇA experience to thousands of players all over the United States.

The partnership started with Soccer Camps in 2015. Together, the organizations managed a strategic plan to extend the Camps across the

United States of America. After a great first year of summer of camps, in 2016 FC Barcelona and ISL launched the first year around

program in Charlotte, NC. The BARÇA Academy Charlotte (FCB Escola Charlotte)

Since 2017, the partnership continued with the expansion of FC Barcelona across the US. FC Barcelona and ISL founded the BARÇA

Academy Austin (the name in 2017 was FCB Escola Austin).

On August 2018, after a very successful first season, ISL and One World Soccer (local club) formalized a relationship, and turned it into a

strategic alliance with the purpose to offer access to external competition (USYS & USC) to all of the BARÇA Academy Austin players.

This strategic alliance with One World Soccer came through a shared love of the beautiful game. By having a similar vision for player development, One World Soccer After and ISL formed a relationship for the 2017-2018 season. The board of directors of One World Soccer and ISL saw a great opportunity to combine efforts and strengthen the BARÇA Academy Austin.

The 2020-2021 season will be the fourth season for the BARÇA Academy Austin, we are nothing but excited about this new season that

we have ahead of us.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS Code of Conduct:

17. I agree to any and all player, parent & coach conflicts pertaining to my player in a professional and respectful manner reaching out to the head coach first by email. If I feel my concern has not been resolved, I will then escalate my concern with a professional email to the head coach, the Competitive Director or Development Director (as appropriate for my player’s level), the Project Manager and the Technical Director. In the event that the matter is not resolved by email, a meeting will be scheduled and the One World Soccer Board will be notified.

18. I agree to drop off and pick up my player from the field. I understand that the coach will release my player to me upon making eye contact with me confirming I am there to pick up my player.

ROLE OF THE TEAM MANAGERThe primary roles of the Team Manager are to coordinate team communications concerning league play and tournaments, and to manage match day team documents.

1. Week Prior to the Match The week leading up to a match, the Team Manager will finalize the list of players that will play. This includes communicating with parents of rostered players and inviting club guest or pass players that have been requested. They will notify the DoC and Coach of the final roster, including who will be playing and who will be absent.

2. One to Two Days Prior to the Match The Team Manager will communicate essential information to the parents. The Team Manager will have all player cards ready, ensure the game roster is correct for the game card, and print the game card. Should the match be rescheduled, the Team Manager will notify the families immediately.

3. Match Day Before the Match

In the case of inclement weather, the Team Manager will monitor BARÇA Academy staff communications and field location status, and communicate current status and plans with the families.

The Team Manager will compare their game card with the game card of the opponent’s Team Manager, to ensure they match, choosing the card that includes the correct information if there is a discrepancy. About 15 minutes before the match, as the referees are preparing for check in, they will meet with the referees to provide the game card and the team’s plastic player cards or virtual player cards ready on a phone or mobile device.

The Team Manager should stay nearby during the check in process, in case the coach or referees request assistance. When complete, the Team Manager should enjoy the game from their seat at the sideline. (Once check in is complete, the Team Manager becomes simply a parent, and must exit the coach’s side and area of play before the start of the match.)

3. Match Day During the Match

Enjoy the game!

It is a Team Manager responsibility to ensure parent behavior is consistent with BARÇA Academy standards. The Team Manager should considerately address any issues with a parent who is displaying behavior below BARÇA Academy standards. Any parent asked to leave the premises by a game official must do so. The Team Manager will report any parent disciplined by a game official to the BARÇA Academy DoC and DPL.

After the Match

The Team Manager should ensure they have their player cards back from the referee or coach. They will ensure both coaches have signed the Game Card with the referees. They will take a photo of the game card and possibly the game card. They will report the score and any infractions in the proper league tool. Finally they will email the Game Card photo to the coach and DoC, and retain the Game Card for the team’s records.
