Dorothy Virginia “Jenny“ Hanna Sabatier, age 87, a resident of Somerville and formerly of Ellendale, Tennessee, departed this life Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.
Mrs. Sabatier was born December 4, 1929 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Charles and Bertha Hanna. She was a graduate of Treadwell High School and attended Memphis State University. Mrs. Sabatier was a member of the Shelby County Master Gardeners, a member and past president of the Somerville Friends of the Library, and a longtime member of Friendship Force. She was a published writer, and enjoyed reading, painting, gardening, playing bridge and doing volunteer work at Fayette Cares and the Memphis Botanic Gardens. She also served as a volunteer English language tutor to Japanese families.
Mrs. Sabatier was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Sabatier; her parents, Charles and Bertha Hanna; her brother, Alvin Hanna; her sister, Martha Good; and longtime friends, Carlene Hopkins and Wally Blevins.
Mrs. Sabatier is survived by two daughters, Nini Harrell of Somerville, Tennessee, Camille Jukkola (and husband, Mark) of Middleton, Tennessee; one grandchild, Ashley Harrell Fryer of Munford, Tennessee and two great-grandchildren, Coleman and Camryn Fryer. She also leaves a host of other friends and family who she loved dearly, including her family at SomerOak Senior Living Community.
