Hannah Young – Media PitchPromotional Trailer
The Genre
• My A2 media product will be a promotional trailer for a film
• The genre it would come under will be drama
The StorylineThe idea for my trailer revolves around a group of 5 teenagers. The
storyline for the whole film would start with them all at a house before they go to a party and would be involved with drugs and
alcohol. The next part of the film would show a girl overdosing and unfortunately dying. The rest of the group begin to panic and decide they have to bury the body and can never tell anybody
about what has happened. The rest of the film would show the teenagers trying to cope with what they’ve done and deal with the
aftermath. The idea of the film would be to show teenagers the dangers and seriousness of drugs in particular, what it can result in
afterwards and how people can be affected. Because of this my target audience would be teenagers aged 13-18.
Themes
Because the genre of my trailer is Drama, the themes that run throughout are important. The themes that would run throughout my trailer will mainly be:• Crime and punishment• Betrayal• Friendship
Target Audience
• The film would be aged at teenagers aged 15-18
• This is because they can relate to the characters and the events that happen in the film such as the partying
• It could appeal to younger ages such as 13 and 14 but because it will involve drugs, swearing and death it will have to be a 15
Locations
• The locations will be accessible • The start of the trailer would be located in a
house• I would also like to use the school for some
shots as the teenagers are all in sixth form• I would also like to use Nidd Gorge river, forest
and bridge for some scenes in the trailer
Characters
• The characters will all be aged 17-18 and will be in their final year of Sixth Form
• I would like their to be 2 boys and 3 girls• The characters will deal with what happened
in different ways but some will cope well with it and some will not
Conventions of Trailers
• I will include key features of the film but will use shots that do not give away key information
• The title of the film would be put at the end• The names of the actors are usually included, particularly if
they are big actors, to get the audience to see the film because of who’s in it
• Also the names of the directors and producers are often included so audiences can decide whether they will like they film based on their previous work
• The music is really important in a trailer because it sets the mood and tells the audience how they should be feeling
Camera Shots and Editing• Because I am creating a trailer, I will only show
brief shots and will use jump cut editing• I will be able to use a variety of camera shots and
would like to use both low angle and high angle shots, wide shots and particularly close ups
• The close ups will show the emotion of the characters faces which is very important in a drama
• I may also include production company titles, actors names on titles and titles that help the narrative
