Congratulations to the
Class of 2018!
Graduation comes near the end of this month. With the hopeful arrival of outstanding weather, graduation will occur on Saturday, May 26th at District 6 Stadium promptly at 10:30 am. If severe weather occurs, graduation will move to Island Grove on May 26th at 1:30 pm. Please see all information related to graduation at the end of this newsletter in the Greeley Central High Senior Bulletin. This information can also be found on the GCHS homepage.
Hannah Kiburz is a 2018 Boettcher Scholarship Winner. Hannah has maintained a 4.462 GPA while being involved in organizations such as Best Buddies, Key Club, NHS and a Dance Emphasis in the Arts Magnet Program. She is also a National AP Scholar.
Next year, Hannah will be attending Yale University in New
Haven, Connecticut to study Global Affairs and Economics.

Alyssa Joseph has maintained a 4.4 cumulative GPA at GCHS while participating in numerous sports, clubs and academic programs. As an athlete Alyssa participated in varsity volleyball and tennis. She also participated in Key Club for four years. She has taken AP courses and will graduate with an Arts Magnet Diploma.
Next year, Alyssa will be attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as
an Actuarial Science major with a minor in Economics.
Roberto Ortega has maintained a 4.4 cumulative GPA at GCHS. He has completed 12 AP courses and was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction by the College Board.
Next year, Roberto plans on attending Colorado State
University, dual majoring in Biomedical Engineering and
Mechanical Engineering.
Aspen Flores has maintained a 4.236 GPA while attending GCHS, while taking 8 AP courses. She was also involved in Band and Jazz Band all 4 years and Marching Band her junior and senior years. She has had perfect attendance for her entire 4 years at Central. During her time at Central she has learned that a leader should inspire others.
Next Year, Aspen plans on attending Colorado State University to study Journalism with a focus in Photojournalism.

Cielo Ramos has maintained a 4.216 GPA while attending GCHS, while taking 7 AP courses and involvement in 6 clubs. She has made life-long relationships, created beautiful art, and now she can say she’s joined a sport (girls tennis). She has accomplished many things that have taught her that positive thinking can take her anywhere in life.
Next Year, Cielo plans on attending the University of Northern Colorado and
majoring in K-12 Art Education and Secondary Mathematics.
Raul Morales Aragon has maintained a 4.1 GPA while attending GCHS. Raul has also scored a 3 or better on all of his AP tests throughout his high school career.
Next year, Raul is still deciding on where he will be going but has narrowed his search down to UNC or a junior/Division 3 college to play baseball. He plans to minor in Criminal Justice.
Jackson Campbell has maintained a 4.058
GPA while attending GCHS. During these
four years, Jackson has been involved in
theatre, football, key club, National Honor
Society, and Green Cats. He has served as
President of both the Thespian Troupe 657
and NHS.
Next year, Jackson plans on attending Belmont University in Nashville, TN to study
the Entertainment and Music business.

Kendra Myers has maintained a 4.058 GPA while attending GCHS. Kendra has participated in numerous art shows including personal shows, group shows, and art competitions such as the Greeley Airport’s Art of Flight and Denver’s Museum of Contemporary Art Teen Exhibit. She has also worked on projects such as the Watershed Project and a few of the murals that you can see located throughout the halls of Greeley Central.
In the fall, Kendra plans to continue her academic journey at UNC working towards a major in Art and Design.
Avery Becklenberg moved into GCHS this year from Legacy High School in Broomfield, CO and maintained a 4.021 GPA. Although new to Central, Avery immersed herself by becoming involved in the Chamber Orchestra, Varsity Tennis and was an officer in both Key Club and the National Honor Society.
Next year, Avery plans on attending the University of Denver where she
will major in International Studies and Spanish.
Mikaela Matier has maintained a 4.057 GPA while attending GCHS while participating in Key Club, Student Council, Diversity Union, National Honor Society, Link Crew , Varsity Tennis and Cross Country.
Next year, Mikaela plans on attending Colorado State University and major in
Ecosystem Science and Sustainability while minoring in Geology.

Academic Awards Night
This year’s Academic Awards Night will be Wednesday, May 2nd at 7:00pm in the main gym. Students who will be receiving awards should have received an invitation both in the mail (an orange postcard) and in their class.
Activities Awards Night
This year’s Activities Awards Night will be Wednesday, May 9th at 7:00pm in the Auditorium. Students will be receiving an invitation shorty.

Union Colony Civic Center. The
lobby gallery opens at 6pm and

Adam Aguilera has maintained a 4.019 GPA while attending GCHS. Adam is very proud of obtaining his certifications as a Nurse Aide, Emergency Medical Technician, and Intravenous Therapy.
Adam plans for next year are to continue his education and attend nursing
school.
James Doss has maintained a 4.0 GPA while attending GCHS. He directed and wrote a short play which was performed at the Fox Theatre and wrote an informative essay and poem which were both published in a book called “Destigmatized”. He is proud of being in the top 12 in his class as well as being 2nd chair on the Cello in the Symphony Orchestra here at Central.
Next year James will attend the University of Northern Colorado and
major in Nursing while minoring in Physical Science.

Arts Week at the Castle Spring 2018
Students from Dance I, Dance III, Chamber Choir, Drum Line, and Brian Davis performed during lunch to celebrate the arts and to promote the AMP Gala Event on May 1.
● Chamber Choir and Bella Voce groups both received top scores (1) at Contest.
● Symphony Orchestra received a 1- at Contest
● Jazz Band was featured in the Greeley Tribune for performing on the mainstage at UNCO’s Jazz Fest.

Four Thespian Troupe #657 will attend the National Thespian Convention in Lincoln Nebraska this summer for a week of performances, workshops, and We know that Brian Davis, Kayla Brower, Taylor Henderson, and Jaeda Shackley will represent the troupe and GCHS with Pride Class and Dignity!
National Society for Dance Arts will be inducting the following students for artistic merit, Leadership, and academic Achievement. Congratulations to Brittney Archuleta and Indigo Parlin.

student who does not meet the minimum
requirements for graduation, so please do not
put yourself in an unfortunate and
compromising situation. You have worked too
hard to let it slip away in the final few weeks.
Many seniors have yet to order their caps
& gowns. Please see Mrs. Lackey to get this
taken care of immediately.
Whether you will be attending college,
joining the military, or jumping right into the
workforce, we wish you the best of luck in
your future endeavors. We genuinely believe
that the staff here has provided you with the
skills and guidance you need to lead
productive lives. We are excited to see the
mark you make on this world as we know you
will always act with Pride, Class, and Dignity.

May 18th: SENIOR CHECK-OUT FORM PICK-
UP. All seniors will need to pick up a Senior
Check-Out Form in the counseling office. The
form must be signed by all teachers indicating
the student has turned in all books/materials
and paid all fees. Take this form to your classes
during finals week and have your teacher sign
the form when you are finished with your
final. The librarian will need to sign this form.
Lockers MUST be cleaned and undamaged – a
staff member will inspect the locker and sign
the form. The completed form will need to be
turned in to the Finance Office.
Seniors cannot pick up their cap and
gown until their check-out form has been
completed and turned in to the office.
EARLY GRADS NEED TO DO THIS, TOO.
May 21st, 22nd and 23rd: FINALS WEEK for
all students.
ALL SENIORS are expected to meet the
following obligations which are
requirements for graduation. Read the
time schedule carefully as promptness
is absolutely essential. Every graduate
is expected to participate in the
ceremony and exceptions need to be
cleared by the principal.

May 23rd, Wednesday: SENIOR CHECKOUT
AND CAP/GOWN CHECKOUT. THIS WILL BE
FROM 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM IN THE LIBRARY.
Senior checkout will only be one day this year. You
must pick up your cap and gown during this time
period. Please enter from the West parking lots
and proceed to the Library. You will turn in your
completed senior check-out form at this time. YOU
WILL NOT GET YOUR CAP AND GOWN UNTIL
THIS FORM HAS BEEN TURNED IN. Be sure to
hang up your gown as soon as you get home. You
will NOT need it for rehearsal. Don’t forget to
confirm your seating assignment.
May 23rd, Wednesday: SENIOR BBQ at 6:00 PM.
The GCHS staff would like to host a BBQ in honor
of our graduating seniors. This event is for
seniors ONLY and all seniors are encouraged to
attend. Unfortunately, we will not be able to feed
families. Our teachers, however, do want the
opportunity to say goodbye in an informal setting,
so seniors, please join us!
May 23rd, Wednesday: MANDATORY SENIOR/
PARENT MEETING NIGHT AT 7:00 PM IN THE
AUDITORIUM. Immediately following the senior
barbeque, there will be a required meeting for
seniors and their parents to discuss all expectations
and details associated with graduation.
May 24th, Thursday: GRADUATION REHEARSAL
FROM 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at DISTRICT 6
STADIUM. Every senior who expects to participate
in graduation MUST ATTEND THE REHEARSAL.
Seniors are expected to be at District 6 stadium by
7:45 AM. The seating arrangements will be
distributed on May 23rd with your cap and gown.
May 26th, Saturday: GRADUATION at 10:30 AM
at DISTRICT 6 STADIUM (Stadium gates will
open at 8:45am). The “big day” is here! Seniors
will report to the north sidewalk behind District 6
stadium at 9:45 AM for lineup. DO NOT BE LATE!
Remember, this is a formal ceremony so please
dress accordingly. NO SPIKED HEELS ALLOWED
ON THE FIELD.
PICTURES AT COMMENCEMENT: Pictures may
be taken during the Commencement ceremony.
To prevent interference, no unauthorized
individuals will be allowed on the field. A
commercial photographer will take pictures of you
receiving your diploma. You will be contacted
about this after graduation, and you are under no
obligation to buy these pictures.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER GRADUATION go to the
Northridge High School cafeteria where you will
receive your official diploma (you only receive the
cover during the ceremony). You may keep your
cap, tassel, and gown (unless you borrowed them).
EMERGENCY SEVERE WEATHER PLAN: As
always, we will continue the tradition of holding
our ceremony outdoors. In the event of extremely
inclement weather, we will move indoors to the
Island Grove Event Center SATURDAY, MAY 26TH
AT 1:30 PM. The decision to move to Island Grove
will be made by Mr. Henson prior to the start of
the ceremony and any changes will be posted
immediately on the school website. Once the
ceremony begins outside we will NOT utilize the
inclement weather plan. We will run graduation to
conclusion and if the weather conditions force the
termination of the ceremony we will distribute
diplomas in the cafeteria at Northridge High
School.
Financial Clearance Before seniors can grad-
uate, the following obli-
gations MUST BE MET:

books and fines paid.
All course and GCHS
Library books turned
in and Library fines
must be paid.
All past course fees
must be paid.
All athletic equipment
turned in to coaches
and all band uniforms,
equipment, and music
turned in to instruc-
tors.
All other financial
obligations for the
past 4 years must be
fulfilled.
Remember, you will
not receive your cap
and gown until all fees
have been paid. Please
bring cash or check to
cover all outstanding
balances.
We are able to take
credit cards!
ADDRESS CHANGES: If you moved
during the school year be sure Mrs.
Endres in the Counseling Office has your
new address prior to graduation.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION must
be given to Mrs. Endres in the
Counseling Office if you want to be
included and recognized at the
commencement ceremony. DUE DATE:
MAY 3rd.
WALKING PARTNERS AND HONORARY
STAFF: These should already be set up
through the Counseling Office. If you
have questions regarding your walking
partner please speak with Mrs. Appelhans.
Requests for students who are “on the
bubble” may potentially not be honored.
