Summer 2019
TIME TO UNWIND!
Summer means time for family and fun. Whether you are heading to the ocean
or to the mountains, relish your time with family in nature. Don’t be afraid to
share your “ooh’s and aah’s” with the little ones. Let them learn to marvel at
nature’s beauty.
As John Muir would say, go climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. It
will cleanse your spirit!
I hope you enjoy your summer. Rest, Relax, Breathe.
We will be busy preparing for your return in the fall. See you then!

It’s time to resume Tapas Tuesday, the weekly resident-sponsored appetizer social hour! Our first
Tapas Tuesday will be Tuesday, April 16th! Put together a small appetizer plate (tapas) and grab
your spouse, neighbor or friend and head over to the SanTan Room at 4:00pm. We will be sharing
lots of information on our exciting summer plans and then indulging in some scrumptious food.
We’ll be done by 6:00pm so that you have plenty of time for evening activities. The social hour is
open to everyone at the resort. See you there!
Starts
April 16th
Water Volleyball
This is where the action is during the summer! Come on out to the Sport Complex Pool any
day of the week at 2:00pm for water volleyball. No experience is necessary! This is a social
game where we volley the ball back and forth and revel in our successes! As the summer
grows hotter, we will adjust our start time. Watch NextDoor for the latest information.
Pottery Studio
Pottery will close from April 19th thru May 5th. On Monday, May 6th, it will open for the
summer. Pottery will be open from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday
mornings. We will have a monitor on duty to assist you in creating those masterpieces. Stop by
for an orientation and more information.

Learn Paper Quilling
Date/Time/Place: April 8th from 10:00am - Noon in the Saguaro Room
Cost: $10/person; Materials: provided; Number of participants: 15; Instructor: Erin
Newman
Curious about paper quilling and how to roll paper? Come join us for a morning of
curling, coiling and rolling! Paper quilling or paper filigree is an ancient art form that
involves using strips of paper which are rolled, shaped and glued together to create
detailed, decorative designs. The paper strip is wound around a quilling/slotted tool,
creating a coil. The coil is removed from the tool and glued at the end. Then by pinching
the ends of the coil, the artist begins to create a variety of shapes which are endless in creativity. You’ll learn the
basics of quilling using strips of paper, quilling tools (a variety of them) and glue. You’ll learn how to hold the tools
and twirl paper (to your hearts content.) The materials (paper strips, quilling tools and glue) will be provided. Each
participant will create their own paper quilled piece to take home. To register: Sign up by April 3rd in Activities.
Paint with Becki
Becki Andrews will be conducting a Paint & Sip class on Wednesday, April 17th at 2:00pm in the
SanTan Room. Grab a friend or two and your favorite beverages and come on over for this fun
afternoon. Bring an old plastic card like one you’d get at a casino or an old credit card. All other
materials are provided. Cost is $20 pp. Class size is limited to 20. Sign up in Activities by April 12th.
Women’s Billiards
Come shoot some pool with us! We meet every Tuesday and Friday at 12:30pm in the Billiards
Room. If you are new to the games, come and we will teach you how to play. Plan on making
friends and laughing...a lot!
Water Aerobics
Why not start your day in the pool? Join Linda for Water Aerobics at the North Pool Monday
thru Saturday at 8:30am or 9:30am. No experience is necessary and beginners are always
welcome! Linda’s instruction starts out with some warm up exercises, progresses to toning and ends with stretches
during the cool-down period. Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes.
Woodshop
The Woodshop will remain open 8:00am until Noon through mid-April. If monitors are
available, these hours may be extended. After mid-April, the Woodshop will be open only on
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00am until Noon. Questions can be directed to Dave Hebert at
(971) 235-5093.
Sewing Room
In April the Sewing Room will remain open 7 days a week, from 9:00am to 4:00pm and 6:00
to 9:00pm. These days and hours will depend on the availability of monitors. During the
summer, May through September, the Sewing Room should be open Monday thru Thursday
(or Friday) from 9:00am until 4:00pm. For current information, check the board at the South
end of the building or the door to the Sewing Room. Information will also be posted in
NextDoor. If you have questions, feel free to call the Sewing Room at (520) 464-6301.
Glass Studio
Our glass artists will have the opportunity to work on projects through mid-April, as long as
monitors are available. Check the bulletin board at the studio doors for current days and
hours. Gym Flader plan to keep the studio open this summer Tuesday through Saturday,
8:00am until Noon. Once again, days and hours will depend on the availability of monitors.

of games being played—Dominoes, Hand and Foot, Swoop, Samba, etc. Just find yourself a
table and enjoy the afternoon with your neighbors!
Mahjong
Come join us for Mahjong each Tuesday at 12:30pm, Thursdays 6:30pm and Fridays at 12:30pm. Check the Sonora
Rooms for game location. We hope to continue this schedule all summer long!
Pegs & Jokers
Pegs and Jokers can be a great game of strategy and team play. We welcome beginners and newcomers who want to
learn the game. Come alone or bring a friend. We'll try to accommodate all players. We'll continue to teach lessons
on Thursday morning at 9:30am in the Adobe Room through April.
Singles Social Club

April 2th at 6:30pm in the Adobe Room. Bring four nickels, four dimes, four quarters and
one dollar bill and get ready for a fun time! And BYOB!

courts. Self-organized play occurs most mornings in April, with action starting at 9:00am (be at courts
by 8:40am). Intercommunity play, which allows pickleball players from outside the resort to play in
organized round robins, will start May 1st at 7:30am. Start times will be adjusted according to the
weather during the summer. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays play is at Robson Ranch; on Tuesdays, Thursdays
and Saturdays play is at Palm Creek. Keep an eye on NextDoor for details.
