Yours Truly,

Mr. Lester and Miss Oniquea

It’s time to spring into the splen-

did month of April! This month we

will be celebrating Earth Day! In

the continuation of learning em-

bedded with music, we have pre-

pared an array of wonderful les-

sons for our students. Our themes

for this month are as follows:

Plants, Animals and Life Cycles;

Natural and Manmade Resources;

and Community Workers.

For our Language Arts time we will

be reading: “We Harvest Trees;

Resources on the Map; Everything

Comes from Something; and Aga-

tha’s Featherbed.” Also for Lan-

guage Arts we are engaging the

students with the reading program

“Reader Rabbit” and “Starfall.”

For this month our goal is that at

the end of the lesson, students will

be able to listen to the stories in

“Reader Rabbit,” and Starfall, an-

swer questions about each story,

write vocabulary words legibly, and

read word families. Our students

really enjoy these programs and

have a lot of fun with them.

In Social Studies our class will be

exploring our community workers.

We will be reading “All Around the

Town” and “Where Do They Work.”

We will also be playing vocabulary

BINGO to help increase our stu-

dents’ site words involving commu-

nity workers and buildings! Our ob-

jective is that at the end of this

lesson, our students will be able to

recognize and become more famil-

iar with the many community work-

ers around them.

For our Science lessons we

will be investigating Natural

& Manmade Resources! We

will be learning how things

change form like from Blos-

som to Honey, Cacao Bean to

Chocolate and Lemon to Lem-

onade!

As for math we will

continue using “Mighty Math

Countdown and Zoo Zillions.”

However we will be focusing

on colors and reading books

such as Planting a Rainbow,

and Brown Bear, what do you

see? Also in continuance of

counting the single digit num-

bers to ten, our objective is

that by the end of the lesson

the students will be able to

identify and match the colors

of the rainbow, and the num-

bers 1-10.

We are so happy to announce

that our student of the

month is Andy Murillo!!! He

has made tremendous pro-

gress while at Carousel. He is

doing well with speaking more

clearly and listening to in-

struction. We are so proud

of him!

Here are a few friendly re-

minders, for the month of

April. On the 22nd we will be

celebrating Earth Day.

We also want to remind our

wonderful parents to please

check your child’s back pack

everyday for any school notes

III. Spring break will happen

from March 30-31 and April 1-3.

Students are encouraged to read

books while trying to relax and

renew their energies. We are

celebrating a student’s birthday

on the 18th.

On another note, please read

Carousel’s account on Facebook

and see the exciting and educa-

tional postings we have for our

community.

Happy Springdays,

Ms. Cecille/Mr. Bob/Ms. Irene

Dear Friends and Families,

I) April seems to be a favorite

month. It is the time of year

when students are in full

bloom, expecting fun from

learning, establishing friend-

ship and even learning the

"in" thing of social network-

ing which is Facebook. How-

ever, as in anything, there are

pros and cons hence, teachers

and adults within our commu-

nity are one in teaching and

guiding our students on how

to be smart and how to safely

and wisely use technology.

B) For the month of April, the

N2y curriculum within our

classroom still revolves

around matter. For Language

Arts, we are giving empha-

sis on more sight words (3-4

letters now). There are 4

books to discuss starting with

“All Together Now” which is

about spring, insects and

blooms. Math deals with 1-3

digits addition. Some students

have started multiplication.

Science is shar ing exper i-

ences about butterflies that

have matured inside the class-

room and the students re-

leased them to the environ-

ment. Social Studies hailed

Jackie Robinson for his ath-

letics.
