A bimonthly publication of First Baptist Church Gaston Rev. Rex D. Simmons, Pastor March/April, 2018 Vol. 44 Issue 2
A Note from the Pastor
Dear Church,
Karen and I thank you for the warm welcome you have given us. It seems like we have known you for many years. You have demonstrated that you are a “Caring Place” full of caring people!
God is doing great things among our church family. Praise the Lord for the recent salva-
tions and new additions to our membership! Several will be baptized on March 18th so
plan to be with us.
Finally, pray for your church and faithfully attend our services. Tell others about Jesus
and His love. I will see you Sunday!
Serving together,
Pastor Rex
Happy Easter Sunday, April 1st 2018
Sunrise Service 7:00 AM ~ Breakfast following
Sunday School 9:45 AM ~ Worship 11:00 AM
Easter Sunday is very special to all Christians and we love to cele-brate together on this day. We will begin with a Sunrise Service in the parking lot beside the graveyard (if it rains we will meet in the sanctuary). Dress for the weather (casual) and bring a lawn chair. Breakfast will be served following the service and then you will have time to go home and get ready for church or take a nap – just make sure you wake up in time for Sunday School and Wor-ship. Worship on Easter Sunday will be a special time of music and preaching. We will not have evening services that day since we are having a Sunrise Service. Be sure and sign up for break-fast so the Hostess Committee will have an idea of how many to prepare for. Happy Resurrection Day!

W e are recruiting volunteers to join our group from the church dedicated to picking up litter/trash on Hwy. #321 in our town on 4 assigned Saturdays during the year.
If you can spare a few hours, please consider joining us. Make some new friends maybe, get some exer-cise, or just enjoy the satisfaction being part of a very worthy project.
Anyone travelling our highways can see we have an enormous problem with litter, but more workers are needed to maintain our roads. Maybe with even more volunteers, we could expand our area.
Please consider joining us on our next pick up date, May 12th.
If you have any questions, or want more information, feel free to call Margie Rish, Collette Knight or me.
Thank you, David Rish [email protected] 803-518-4594

I have been reviewing the lists of books checked out from the Welcome Center display and in the library. I have added a few titles to the collection and would certainly appreciate any suggestions you may have for authors that you enjoy. I would also like to know if you are interested in commentaries or other materials that would assist you if you are a teacher. You may email me at [email protected] or leave a note on the table in the library. Thank you, —Marilyn Hook
