HAPPY EASTER! Wishing you all a very Happy Easter from everyone at St Mary’s

Church Watton.

Usually we would be welcoming many of you through our doors over

the Easter celebrations. This year things are looking a bit different.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t have lots of fun!

We’ve compiled lots of great activities for you to enjoy together at

home. We would love to see what you have all been up to, please send

us photos of your baking, creating and Easter activities via our

Facebook pages – St Mary’s Church Watton – Storybags -

@adventurestmarys.

Until we see you all again!

With love and prayers,

From St Marys Church Watton.

CHOCOLATE NESTS Ingredients

• Metric

• 100g Shredded Wheat

• 200g Milk Chocolate

• 50g Unsalted Butter

• 2 tbsp Golden Syrup

• Handful Mini Chocolate Eggs (for Decoration)

Method:

1. Lay a large sheet of cling film over a muffin tin. Ease the

cling film into each muffin hole. Crumble the shredded wheat

into a bowl to break it into small pieces.

2. Break the chocolate into small pieces and put into a bowl

standing over a pan of simmering water. Add the butter and

syrup.

3. Heat gently, so all the ingredients melt and mix together.

Make sure the water does not touch the bottom of the bowl or the

chocolate will go grainy. When all the ingredients are melted

remove the bowl from the heat and add the shredded wheat to

the chocolate mixture and stir to coat the shredded wheat in the

chocolate mixture.

4. Spoon the mixture into the cling film lined holes. Using the

back of a teaspoon push the middle of each nest down to make

a little 'hollow' or 'nest'. When cooled remove the nests from the

muffin holes and sit in turned out paper cakes. Top each nest

with a few mini chocolate eggs.

EASTER GARDEN For your own garden you will need:

o A tray

o Soil

o Grass/cress seeds or moss

o Small stones

o A large stone

o A piece of small white cloth

o A small flower pot

o 6 sticks to make into 3 crosses

o String

1. Place your flowerpot on its side on the tray (this will be tomb)

and cover half the tray (including over the side of the flowerpot) with

soil, this will make a hill side. On the other half put your small

stones.

2. You could always plant some grass seeds in the soil and watch

them grown. If you don’t have that long find some moss to cover the

soil area.

3. With your sticks use them to make three crosses and secure them

with bits of string. Stick them into the top of the “hill”, if you have

one cross that is bigger than the others, place it in the centre of the

three crosses to represent Jesus’ cross.

4. Finally with the piece of white cloth, fold it up and put it in the

tomb and place the large stone in front of the entrance to the

tomb. On Easter Sunday roll the stone away to show that Jesus has

risen.
