We wish to inform you that Mr. Siraj Mather and Mr. Raffi Mather have resigned from the Board of Directors of Mather Projects Private Limited with effect from 20th June, 2012. The Board has accepted their resignations and wish them the very best in their pursuit of their independent business interests which will be fully and totally separate from Mather. We have completed one month under the new totally professional management with able guidance from our two new Independent Directors, Mr. Navas Meeran, Chairman, Eastern Group and Mr. M Venugopalan, Former Chairman, Federal Bank Limited. We also now have three ex bankers from State Bank of India – Mr. N. Asokan, Director and CEO, Mr. M. Vijayan, Chief Administrative Officer and Mr. John Patrick, Chief Financial Officer bringing in the rigours, processes and discipline of the Indian Banking Sector into the administration of Mather. Since turning to total professional management in the first week of July, the top most priority of the new management has been to streamline, strengthen and complete the existing project commitments of Mather Projects to its customers. In line with the pursuit to honor the commitment to our customers, about 30 apartments in Berry Woods are ready to be handed over. The remaining apartments in the project are under the various stages of completion. Our customer service team will update you of the progress and the respective delivery dates of the apartments in Berry Woods in the next two weeks and we hope to complete delivery of the last apartment in Berry Woods before 31st October, 2012. The management is currently focusing its entire energy on the 5 ongoing projects (Berry Woods, Esperanza, El Castillo, Highlands and Hacienda) that comprises of 10 towers. As promised to you by Mr. K.M.I. Mather, our Chairman in his letter dated 26th June 2012 and in my message in the first newsletter, the committed delivery date of each of these projects would be communicated to all our customers by this month end. Last but most importantly, we also wish to inform you all that few individuals / companies have recently brought to the attention of the Board of Directors of Mather Projects Pvt. Ltd. of land transactions and sale of apartments, villas and commercial space allegedly made by individuals / companies holding out as if they were part and parcel of Mather Group of concerns. I have to admit here that I, personally, have also been a victim of such holding out by some individuals and companies till I met with the Chairman of Mather Group in June, 2012 while discussing rejoining Mather Group as Director. The Board of Directors of Mather Projects Pvt. Ltd. decided to issue a notice in public interest in this regard and the same, which is being issued tomorrow by our lawyers M/s. Nalini Chidambaram and Associates through Ms. Kavita Deendayalan, Advocate is enclosed in the last page of this newsletter and is self-explanatory. We look forward to your support in bringing out the truth regarding any and all such alleged transactions made by individuals / companies who held out/ may still be holding out as part and parcel of Mather Group. I shall personally work with any of you who may have any concern in this regard to ensure that any outstanding issue in this matter is brought to closure working together through any such issue. This month has two very special celebrations - Eid-Ul-Fitr & Onam. Eid marks the end of ‘Ramadan’ - a month when Muslims fast throughout the day and eat only at night with complete focus on prayers. It was during this month that the holy Quran was revealed. Onam is the biggest and the most important festival in Kerala being our harvest festival celebrated with joy and enthusiasm by malayalees all over the world. I have booked an apartment in “Elcastillo” constructed by Mather Projects in Jawahar Nagar kochi. Right from the time I made an enquiry, to this date, when the construction is nearing completion, the officials of Mather projects has exhibited great warmth in the relationship. Monthly progress reports are sent with out fail giving all the information regarding the progress of construction accompanied by latest photographs. So far the progress has been more or less as per schedule. I had visited the site two three times and was delighted to note that high standards safety and workmanship were maintained.

Payments are requested only based on the completion of agreed milestones and sufficient time is given to mobilize funds for affecting payments. I wish to put on record that the over all satisfaction level is “Very Good”.

Kochi real estate market to benefit from Metro project

House rents in Kochi are steadily on the rise, Real estate agents say house rents are going up because many people are moving into the city to work in the software companies here. On an average, there has been 15 to 20% increase in house rents in the last couple of years. Executive class including those employed with software companies and banks, and NRI’s prefer areas like Panampilly Nagar, Kumaranasan Nagar and Vyttila East.

M.V. Antony, president, Kochi chapter of Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India (CREDAI), said, “House owners expect a reasonable return for investment made in property when giving houses for rent. And this has contributed to the rise in rents.” He said rents were likely to go up further as there would be more employment opportunities once Smart City and such other IT projects are completed.

The proposed Kochi Metro Rail project may positively impact city’s real estate market with the prospects of its completion in three years time.

A report prepared by Geojit BNP Paribas Property Services points out those areas within 500 meters from the 23 Metro stations coming up in the 1st phase will witness a minimum of 50 per cent appreciation in the property pricing when the project becomes a reality.

Compared to the average annualised returns of 16 per cent in the last 3 years, the property prices have risen 30 per cent in last 6 months, especially at Kaloor area in North Kochi, where the Metro Rail work has already commenced. This clearly targets on a 60 per cent annual growth which will steady the real estate market in Kochi, the report says.

Kochi will soon try its hand in converting plastic waste into fuel.

The civic authorities will shortly invite a Pune-based company for setting up a plant for processing plastic waste. It is a zero investment programme that the civic authorities have in their minds. The entrepreneur will set up the company and pay royalty to the Kochi Corporation for the fuel they produce from the waste, according to indications.

The investment of the civic body will be in the form of a shed for installing the machinery. Plastic refuse, the raw material for the company, will be provided by the corporation and the company will process it to produce crude oil. The representatives of the company will shortly reach the Corporation Council for a demonstration.

Our client MATHER (including its constituent companies: Mather & Company Pvt. Ltd., Mather Projects Pvt. Ltd., Mather Projects & Constructions Ltd. and Mather Home Care Pvt. Ltd.) have been in the business of construction, real estate, etc. since 1929-30 with the first company in Mather Group ‘Mather and Company Pvt. Ltd.’ incorporated in 1944. Our client owns the brand ‘MATHER’ across all trademark classifications in India except classes 7 & 16 and in class 37 in UK, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia. The trademark application is pending approval in Qatar.

Our client has recently been approached by few individuals and companies informing our client about land transactions and sale of apartments, villas and commercial space allegedly made by individuals / companies holding out as if part and parcel of Mather group of concerns. Our client Mather has not granted any authority or consent to anyone other than its constituent and associate companies to transact any land, apartments or villas. Further, our client Mather has not done any business of land plot sales in the last 25 years and is not in the business of land plot sales at present. Our client Mather is taking appropriate legal steps both under civil and criminal laws against these individuals / companies / concerns as we get more information in this respect against such illegal and unauthorized use of brand Mather.

Our client Mather including its constituent and associate companies wish to state vide this public notice to whosoever it may concern including but not limited to purchasers, sellers, regulatory authorities (both central and state) that Mather including its constituent and associate companies have nothing whatsoever to do with any individual’s / companies / concerns who have held themselves out and who may hold themselves out as part and parcel of Mather Group. Further, our client Mather hereby forewarn and caution, the public at large, to be wary of such trademark infringers from misleading you using brand Mather illegally and without authority.

Further, our client Mather declares that all communications, advertisements and promotional materials of Mather will have the Mather logo in Green Square which is registered both under Trademark and Copyright laws in India and under trademark laws in UK, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
