Break times

Morning playtime is at 10.30-10.45.

KS2 children can go to the studio to buy drinks and healthy snacks or toast.

Children should not take food from lunchboxes at playtimes.

Equipment is provided in all playgrounds for children to play with and the climbing frame/tyre park is on a rota basis.

There is NO FOOTBALL allowed on school grounds.

Uniform • Grey or black skirt/trousers• White shirts/polo tops – school logo• Burgundy sweatshirts/jumpers – school logo• Black sensible shoes – no trainers• Suitable winter coat – school fleece• ALL NAMED PLEASE!

• No jewellery - only stud earrings (to be removed in PE) and watches are allowed.

• No nail varnish

P.E. • Navy shorts or track suit bottoms

• White t-shirt (with House colour edging)

• Lightweight pumps must be worn for indoor PE

• Trainers should in school for fields and PE days in case PE is outdoors.

• No jewellery or watches (can write disclaimer letter and take full responsibility)

• Long hair tied back

• PE days – 5W on Tuesday-5S and 5V Friday

• Field day – Wednesday

• If any parents are free on a Wednesday afternoon to walk with us to the fields; we would appreciate your support.

Reading• All children to bring their Red Reading Diary and

school reading books into the classroom every day.• Two books: Reading Book (structured until a fluent

reader) and Choice book• All children have a Reading Diary in which to

record reading – children can record their own reading, but we would appreciate parents signing the Red Reading Diaries to confirm that they have completed the book.

• Please do not put water bottles in book bags!

Learning Beyond the Classroom: How can I help my child?

• Listen to them read regularly and ask appropriate questions surrounding the text.

• Encourage your child to check My Maths regularly for homework– Mrs Vines’s set- Homework given on Fridays, returned on Thursdays

– Miss Wilcox’s set- Homework given on Fridays, returned on Fridays

– Mrs Saunders’s set- Homework given on Wednesdays, returned on Tuesdays

• Support your child in learning all times tables so that they are secure up to 12x12, including the inverse

– Maths magician and My Maths can support with this

• Spelling homework is given out every Tuesday, please support your child in learning these weekly

• Supporting your child with any other homework or mini projects

• Please encourage your child to complete/hand in homework on time

Helping in School

We welcome any parent helpers in year 5Many parents come to help in school with:• Reading • Literacy Volunteers• Sewing• Enrichment activities. If helpers are coming in regularly we will need tomake arrangements for them to be DBS checked throughthe school, even if already DBS checked throughsomewhere else.All helpers or visitors should come through main Schooloffice and be signed in officially.
