1. Design Principles & Objectives
4. CELEBRATE OUR CULTURAL AND NATURAL HERITAGE
• Kaurna Nation are recognised as the Traditional Owners of the land and their cultural heritage and connection to country is acknowledged and celebrated.
• Remnant vegetation associations and environmental systems, including hydrological processes are communicated.
• The Reservoir’s history and other important post-colonial cultural heritage features and stories are appropriately conserved and interpreted.
Section 1
1. PROTECT OUR DRINKING WATER
• Safe, reliable and affordable drinking water is our fundamental responsibility. Recreational opportunities will be developed in a way that will protect drinking water quality.
2. PROMOTE HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF ACTIVE,
THRIVING COMMUNITIES
• Create a ‘must visit’ recreational destination that provides innovative on and off water opportunities to engage with nature.
• Considers pedestrian and cyclist linkages to surrounding communities and destinations, including the Glenthorne National Park-Ityamaiitpinna Yarta
• Provide recreational facilities that are sympathetic to the natural environment, safe and comfortable, and of a high quality, robust design in the long term.
• Easy & equitable access for people of all ages and abilities informs the location and design of access points, parking, pathways and facilities
• Recreation will be consistent with the ‘Enjoy, Explore, Preserve’ messaging
3. PROTECT AND RESTORE OUR NATURAL LANDSCAPES
• Conservation of the Reservoir’s unique flora & fauna, habitat improvements and landscape regeneration is informed by the best available science.
• The protection and enhancement of biodiversity will consider the regional context including linkages with the Glenthorne-Ityamaiipinna Yarta National Park and surrounding natural spaces.
• The design of recreational facilities will protect the Reservoir’s important natural features.

5. PROMOTE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND RESEARCH
6. STIMULATE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY
7. ACTIVATE AND ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY
8. BE INNOVATIVE AND UTILISE NEW TECHNOLOGY
• Schools are able to connect easily to creative educational opportunities and participate in recreational programs and conservation projects.
• Schools, universities and other educational institutions are encouraged to engage with research activities associated with the Reservoir to increase knowledge and share their learnings.
• Opportunities for nature based tourism are supported with new low-impact environmentally sustainable enterprises considered where appropriate.
• Minimise negative impacts on neighbouring properties and residents, including impacts related to increased traffic and access, and optimise protection from risk of fire.
• Any development or enterprise is sympathetic to the natural environment.
• Ongoing community participation is encouraged and is reflected in an evolving landscape.
• Community activities and events are supported as part of the recreational, educational & cultural experiences at the Reservoir through volunteer and educational programs.
• The Reservoir is a contemporary park which utilises leading digital and other technologies to support recreational activities, interpretation narratives and operational requirements.
• Planning considers ‘future-proofing’ of the site to enabling an evolving landscape to respond to social change over time.
• Communicate the value of nature & promote the development of environmental values.
