It is very happy to share all you the stepping towards the 6th Year of Hariksha Learning Centre, Avalurpet. It is very happy to have a short recap of the initiatives. The seeding (starting) of Hariksha Learning Center for the children of special need is began with great initiative, support, founded and supported by ASHA for Education, Mr. Bhasker Venkatraman, Mr. Ramanathan Subramanian, ASHA IRVINE, ASHA CHAPTER TEAM MEMBERS.

The inauguration took place on 03.12.2008, by Mr. Venugopal, Member of Parliament, Thirupathur Constiuency, in a rented place.

All the kind hearted, generous and helping people extended their support for the service of the special need of children living in the interior villages of Melmalayanoor Block.

With all your support it stabilized its service to the needy, neglected, crippled, disadvantage children. Now all our collective effort brought a barrier free, equipped with modern equipments, learning materials and backing with the professional Staff & Volunteers team.

In this situation we faced a little difficulty and short of the routine expenses of Hariksha Learning Centre. All are expected to contribute your valuable contribution towards support of Children, an activity, Salaries of the professional team, expenses of the day to day routines, etc., (as you like)

Another stepping stone of the initiative of Rainbow Life Children Home, Tiruvannamalai is begun on 05.12.2010 with the joint venture of Mr. John Burnap, Madam Sabine and all the Members of LFDC, FRANCE. The introduction of Mr. John to me is god’s guidance, blessing to start the Rainbow Life Children Home.  

The home is initiated to serve the children of - Parentless, Single Parent, Child Labour, children of the chronic diseases affected parents, children with very poor economic background, etc.,

We are entering in to the Fourth year of Rainbow Life Children Family. Anything starts with one, the new arrangement of the family for the underprivileged children setup is started by Mr. John Burnap (the one). We formed the big family ourselves with our commitment. At present we are having 31 junior members in our family. In this family some of them are engaged themselves with their full interest, some of them are make use of the opportunity they avail; some of them are shows less interest (this is due to the various family issues they faced).  The god’s assignment and support of the various great kind hearted it is possible for us to manage this big family during last year’s.

We are expecting to extend your all kind of support to grow up the junior members to make them valuable and responsible in the community.

2013 in General   In General the year 2013 is challenging for us. The year teaches us many lessons and we crossed this year with full of experiences. This experiences will gives us comfort during our coming years.

Transformation is unavoidable, according to the technology, growth, education and in many aspects the transformation is taking place rapidly. In this manner the child approach, development and institutional care - there are many changes are taking place. The Government itself pledge and giving priority in this matter, they implementing many transformations regarding this and direct to adapt those transformations in the Institutional children care to make a standardization and uniformity in all the children institutions. We are trying to gather information and adapt those transformations, in the coming year we will implement and move forward as per the Government Direction.

Many mushrooming organization are disappearing in front of this Act, Rules which makes standardization of the children institutions. We all hope with all your support we meet all the requirement and direction of the Government.

A Major Big challenge we faced in the past years was that we are spending the money we are received as an estimated budget. During the crisis / emergency situation it is difficult to manage the situation. In the coming year we are planning to prepare and want to raise CORPUS FUND for the Organization at least to manage the crisis & Emergencies.

Christmas 

 

The annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ “CHRISTMAS” is celebrated by our Children on 25th December 2013. The celebration starts with the Christmas Decorations, Christmas Trees, Lighting, Stars, Bells, Candles, Candies, Describing the birth of Jesus Christ. and special deserts are provided to the children. The exchanging of gifts is one of the core aspects of the Christmas Celebration.

The Children of Hariksha Learning Centre are provided with special food, Cake, Sweets. All the staff team members and management are took part in the Christmas celebration. All the children and the staff team members are enjoyed and celebrated the day with full of Joy and Happy.

The children of Rainbow Life Children Home celebrated the Christmas Celebration with full of Joy, Happy, Excitement and Great mood. The children are shared with gift articles. The children are ask to write down their wishes of the gifts, The children are expressed their wishes towards the gift articles. The Management provided the surprise to the children that maximum articles are provided to them as a Christmas Gift. The children are provided the following articles as a Christmas gift

On Christmas the children are provided with special food, Cakes, Chocolates, Sweets. The children are enjoyed much this day. All the children are enjoyed the day with full of delight, pleasure, and joyfulness and very happy.

Apart from this a team came on 24th December evening, had moral stories about Jesus and had discussion with the children. The children are provided with moral values and guidance. All felt very happy, they distributed Sweets and shared their wishes.

Information About Periaswamy 

In a family consist of mother and the father is very difficult to take care of the special need child.  The child Periaswamy’s mother passed away when he is at the age of 1 year. Now the Grandmother is the guardian and care taker for him. He is living in Vadugapoondi Village.

The family history shows the mother of the boy got marriage at the age of sixteen, she delivered Periaswamy, during the delivery time he is a blue baby (due to lack of oxygen all over his body became blue in colour). The delivery was taken care by the trained nurse in their village in their house itself.

While he grows it was diagnosed that he is special need child (Mentally Retarded). While he came to our Learning Centre he use to speak one or two words only. He is not able to speak continuously and he is not known many vocabularies.

Our continuous training and special education provide him developments over all his routine activities, cognitive development, communication skill and many other activities.

Our Learning Centre provides him Milk, Biscuit, Lunch, Evening Snack, Fruits, Milk. He is picked up from door step of his house in his village and dropped by our school van. He is provided with the supplementary nutritional support by providing him health drink package once a month.

Parents / Educator Gathering 

The monthly periodical parents – Educator gathering took place on 7th December 2013. In this gathering 32 parents / relatives are took part. The consultative discussion made upon the following topics,

o The children who all are not avail the scholarship / maintenance grant - from the Government are advised to furnish all the needed require documents to the Government and re-submit the application

o The capable parents / relatives are requested to take participate in the activities, expenses – as cash / kind / guidance at the maximum level

o The parents / relatives are advised to sent their children with provided uniform - neat, clean and tidy

o The plan of the physiotherapy assistance from the International organization KDM, France. The volunteers from KDM are planning to offer their service as a physiotherapy session for 6 months and occupational therapy session for minimum six months. This support will make a great changes in the daily life of the children and a great change will be ahead in the rehabilitation of the children

All the team members are requested to take effort to plant the trees, samplings to make the compound green and pleasant

Government Liaison 

We re-submitted the grant application to the Government for the Building Construction,  Staff  Salary  and  Food  Grant  for  the  children’s  benefit  of  Hariksha Learning Centre through the District Differently Abled Welfare Office, Villupuram.

The 55 volunteer worker appointed in the Melmalayanoor Block for the welfare of the special need (differently abled) in their village are provided with the 6 month October to March honorarium. The honorarium is provided as a cheque to them, the utilization certificate for the money spent is submitted to the District Differently Abled Welfare Officer on 6th December 2013, to Mr. Kannan, Ortho Technician.

On 20th December again all the needed documents, utilization certificate, Name List, Honorarium provided Cheque Numbers, the balance amount in the sanction budget Rs. 750/- are submitted.

Mr. Thiagarajan from Nochalur is rejected his honorarium Rs. 750/-, Cheque No. 252606, so the cheque is returned back, we submitted the cheque also to Mr. Kannan, Ortho Technician.

In this month we received on line donation from give india web page LC Rs,16,300/- and FC 496.31 USD towards in our learning center CP/MR children different donation options,

Mr. C. Jayalakshmi W/o D. Chandrasekaran provided the mid time meals on 4th December to celebrate their son’s birthday.

Our regular supporter Mr. Babu provided mid time meals on 9th December.

Sub Inspector of Police, Avalurpet provided the mid time meals on 11th & 8th December.

Arivukodi, (Government Nurse) Avalurpet, provided the mid time meals on 26th December.

Through Mr. Kotteeswari we received the contribution from Mrs. Rajalaskmi Rs. 5,000/- and her son-in-law contributed Rs. 10,000/-

Mrs. Sumathi Viswanathan sent Rs. 1,000/- to provide the mid time meals for our Hariksha Learning Centre Children January 1st .

Mr. M.Parthipan, 2/278, jain Street, Arni, provided 25 Kg package rice 5 bags, readymade dresses for the staff team members, 5 Bed, 80 Note Books for the Children Usage, Scales, Pencils, Pen and 10 box on 30th of December. On the same day he provided the special food for children with sweets.

26th December one of our the trustee Mrs. Lakshmi Sridhar her husband Mr. Sridhar from Navimumbai visit in our Learning center children and staffs, they are happy for the construction and maintains of the children,  

Maintenance 

The school van battery is down; due to this the vehicle is not worked properly. Immediately the battery is charged and the needed maintenance work undergone.

The tube light in the class room and the bulbs in entrance are replaced as per the need.

Dairy Farm 

The cows in the Dairy farm are good and regularly supplying milk to the children of special need children. The children are getting benefit and healthy nutritional supplement. The expenses and the outcome from the Dairy are equal at present.

Performer of December 

The performer of December month among boys is Ramesh, and the performer among the girls is Loordhupriya. The children are honored for their best practices and the doing their works as a role model.

Achievement of the children

On 30th November and 1st December our children participated in the Tamilnadu State Level Sub Junior Wrestling competition held in Thoothukudi. In this competition our children Loordhupriya won the Gold Medal and T. Iswariya won the Bronze Medal.

Loordhupriya selected to take part in the National Level wrestling competition. The children are encouraged and presented with gifts(watch and teddy bear).

On 28th December the children Arul Kumar, Ramachandran, Venkatesan are participated the Karate Competition conducted by Japan Shito RYU foundation. In this competition Arul Kumar won the 1st Prize and Ramachandran and vekatesan get third price.

Transfer of Harish

During last month we received an abandoned child named Harish from the East Police station. As per the Government norms we surrendered him before the Child Welfare Committee, Tiruvannamalai. As per their advice we kept him as a temporary shelter to find out the family situation of the boy. After the investigation the Government officer provided a report that the child belongs to the neighbor

District, (Vellore) to provide better rehabilitation they recommended to transfer the child to the Vellore Child Welfare Committee, as per the proceedings the boy is transferred to the Vellore Child Welfare Committee.

The boy is handed over to the Reception Home for Boys, Vellore on 20th December. The acknowledgement received for it.

Home Registration 

The Government is very intense for implementing the Juvenile Justice Act for the better rehabilitation of the institutionalized children. In this situation in all the level (State, District) the officer are forcing to adapt and undertake the Government guidance in the institution management. So the District Social Welfare Officer, the District Child Protection Officer, the Child Welfare Committee are advising to maintain the home as per the norms.

Due to this and also our home building licenses are lapsed we applied to renew the licenses from the Government Department such as No Objection Certificate from Fire and Rescue Department, for which we applied to the department on 3rd December, as soon as they visited our building the issued the renewal certificate on 5th December. In addition Mr. Manigandan from Fire and Rescue Department visited our home on 10th December, he demonstrated the use of the Fire Extinguishers, the types of Fire Fighting Equipments, how to prevent the Fire Accidents, how to react when there is a fire accident. All the information are very much useful to the children.

We applied for the stability certificate to Mr. Govindhan, Government authorized panel engineer. He visited our children home, he examined the stability of the structure, safety and the firmness of the buildings of Boys Home and the Girls Home.

He ensured the firmness of the building and issued the stability certificate for both homes.

We also applied to the Health Department for the Sanitary Certificate, Mr. Rajendiran, Health Inspector, visited our children home and satisfied about our health and hygienic situation. He ensured that the hygienic condition in our home is good and satisfactory.

Children Parliament

As a trial basis we started the initiative of the Children Parliament in our home. On 16th December we made the election among the children. Secret balloting system is followed; all the children are voted for their leaders. Finally the votes are counted in front of the children. The result shows that Loordhupriya among the girls and Ramesh among the boys are selected as a their leaders.

Curriculum Information 

The children studying in Sri Srinivasa Higher School attended their school 2nd Term examinations from 11th to 23rd of December. All the children are prepared and attended well for their examinations.

The children studying in VDS Higher Secondary School attended their 2nd Term examinations from 10th to 23rd December.

All the school going children are announced with 10 days holidays after their 2nd term exams. The children studying in 10th Standard in Sri Srinivasa Higher School attended the special classes for 4 days. The school will be re-open on 3rd January.

Thiagarajan’s 1st semester results from Rajalakshmi Polytechnic College, published by the Department of Technical Education on 23rd December. He scored the following marks in the examinations, he failed in 3 subjects.

Parameswari is good in her nursing studies, in the coming month parent’s teacher meeting is organized in Al Ameen Nursing College, Somasipadi. We will participate in the meeting and update the needed information.

In the month of December the parents’ relative visited as listed below:

For the Boys 5 parents relatives are visited and for the Girls 5 parents / relatives are visited.

Local Contribution 

Mr. Sankar and Mrs Sankar From melmalyanoor provided the special Snacks, Sweets and Biscuits for our children on 21st December.

Mr. Arumugam B.A., B.L., and family provided the special food with sweets - for our children on 22nd December.

Komos provided the Cake for the children to share the joy of Christmas.

On 25th and 26th December one of our the trustee Mrs. Lakshmi Sridhar her husband Mr. Sridhar from Navimumbai visit in our Rainbow life children home stay with one day and advice (motivated) to the children, also they pay the T. Shirt from Mumbai and they provided to all our Children. Mr. Shridhar provided Sweets to our children on the same day.

Medical Treatment 

The Child Asha had fever and found her heart beat is fast for which we consulted her with the Cardiologist Dr. Gokulanathan, MD, DM Cardiology, the needed medicines are provided to her on 1st December.

Surya had a insect (honey bee) bite, due to this the hand became swollen for which treated with Dr. Siva Shanmugam on 14th December, the needed medical treatment provided.

The child banupriya, Sasikala had leg pain, we consulted her with the Dr. Siva Shanmugam, and the needed medicines are provided to her on 29th December.

The child Thigarajan had fever, due to this we consulted Dr. Siva Shanmugam on 30th December, the needed medical treatment provided.

Maintenance Information 

The vehicle suspension plate is damaged, on 11th December it made ready.

The two wheeler had minor repair, twice it made ready.

The washing machine in the boys home and the girls home got repair, on 20th boys hostel washing M/c made ready.

The power back up inverter had a problem; the electrician is called and made it ready on 22nd December.

The house owner of the Girls Home is informed that he is increasing the house rent, the house rent from next month will be Rs. 10,000/- per month.

Staff Information 

On 2nd December a lady named Eswari appointed as a lady instructor for our home. She is with teaching educational background and widow candidate. But on 4th December she informed that due to the family function she want to go to her home.
