Students of DDMS P Obul Reddy Public School celebrated Harita Haram in a novel way this
year. Due to the current situation, with all activities of the school moving online, one would
have wondered how Haritha Haram would be celebrated by students.
However, our students, guided by their able mentors, sought to establish once again that
Harita Haram is a reiteration of the Power of Nature. Students celebrated the occasion from
the safety of their homes. They planted saplings, discovered the joys of working with soil and
nurturing a plant, and understanding more about our Earth.
In the Pre-Primary Domain, Haritha Haram was celebrated as a week-long program. A
virtual “Show and Tell” program was organised where kids dressed themselves as Farmers,
Trees etc. They spoke about the importance of trees and how to save trees.
The teachers of Pre-primary domain also added their own touch by dressing up as farmers for
the event.
Students of Grade 1, 2 and 3 have participated in Haritha Haram. Grade 1 and 2 were
encouraged to plant saplings/seeds. The children were briefed about taking care of the
saplings. Throughout the week, the growth of the saplings was observed by the students
and the same was discussed in the class. Their participation proved the slogan “Each one
plant one”. During the course, grade 3 children were taught about the importance of plants
and effects of deforestation. The students then shared their thoughts about the information
shared.
Students also incorporated the Harita Haram theme into their academic activities. They
presented skits, talks and role plays to mark the event of Harita Haram.
