Harrah Chamber of Commerce
The Harrah Chamber of Commerce is a members driven organization whose mission is to preserve, protect and promote local business and ed-ucational opportunities within our community. Supported by business, industrial, and professional people who are empowered with strength and a passion for our cause. The Harrah Chamber brings together our members who are dedicated to developing, promoting and maintaining a sound and healthy climate for Harrah, making it a great place to work and call home.
The Harrah Chamber provides you with a multitude of ways to increase your visibility within the community. Like most membership organiza-tions, the more one puts into it, the more one will get out of it.
One can build a network of relationships and friendships by attending our events, serving on a committee, and keeping connected through our media and messaging.
As a membership-based organization, the success of the Harrah Cham-ber depends upon support and participation from our members and vol-unteers. The Harrah Chamber of Commerce has a number of commit-tees, which provide one with a way to become active in the community.

Municipal ServicesThe City of Harrah provides public water, sewer, and trash service, Police and Fire protection, well-maintained roads and recreational facilities to cater to citizens of all ages.
Library The Metropolitan Library System has provided library services to the Harrah community in a variety of ways since the 1970s. Library users can enjoy complete library services at the Harrah Library including public computer use, Wi-Fi, Tai-lored Titles Reader’s Advisory services and family friendly community events like monthly storytime, Family Game Fest and Chess Club. Materials from any Metro Library including digital materials are available with a library card at the Harrah location.
The library’s annual summer Neighborhood Arts performances add to community enhancement and entertainment complimenting the Summer Reading Program in encouraging literacy for all ages.
Religious SupportHarrah has a active religious community of many different faiths represented in 15 churches. Area churches offer various programs including Early Learning Centers and Mother’s Day Out, groups for youth, singles and senior adults, and counsel-ing and support groups. Religious leaders come together as a part of a ministerial alliance to foster communication among churches and to assist the community in responding benevolent needs.
Places for HelpTri-City Youth and Family Center, Inc.’s mission is to enhance and inprove the quality of life and well-being of individuals and families within the community. The mission is implmented by providing education, outreach, prevention, inter-vention, and counseling services. The services are designed to welcome and support individuals who have (or may be at risk to have) mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring conditions.
Senior LivingThe Harrah Senior Center’s primary focus is to provide recreational, social, educa-tional, and nutritional services to adult 60 years or above. They also provide trans-portation services to the Harrah area for seniors and the disabled. Their focus is to enable senior citizens live healthy, safely and indepedently. Harrah also offers senior apartments, senior housing, two skilled nursing and long term care nursing homes.

Harrah Industrial Park
The 155 acre Harrah Industrial Park is located in a convenient location on Reno Avenue 1/4 mile east of Harrah Road (Highway 270). With four lane access that connects to Interstate Highway 40, nearby Will Rogers World International Airport, the Harrah Indus-trial Park is a great place for business.Utilities are available to the Harrah Industrial Park. The City of Harrah provides water and sewer, Oklahoma Gas and Electric ser-vice is available, and both offer an aggressive incentive program to attract and retain industry. The nearby Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center provides training custom designed for your business or industry.

Nestled on the banks of the North Canadian River sits the City of Harrah. The first Polish settlers came in the spring of 1892 when 10 families came by covered wagon from Arkansas. In 1898 the Church of St. Teresa of Avila was built, the town was devastated when they lost the church in a fire in 1923, but within 2 years a new building was built. This church still beautiful and maintained is Oklahoma’s only Polish Catholic Church. Several business owners of today are descendants of the early Polish businessmen. The community formerly known as Pennington and Sweeny became Harrah in 1898 when Louis Navarre sold 32 acres to Frank Harrah who plotted and developed the original Town of Harrah along either side of the railroad track. Harrah’s geological location gave it a wonderful chance of survival. It was surrounded by fertile farmland and a river full of fish. E.W. Sweeny had a ferry on the river and later built a toll bridge which made Harrah accessible to both sides of the river. Harrah was struck by disaster twice in its early years. First, in 1916 when a tornado struck south of town and destroyed the ball stadium which was never rebuilt. Second, in 1922 when a fire destroyed most of the original town. Harrah was one of the first small town to have electric service as OG&E purchased land north of town and built an electric generating plant that was producing electricity in 1928. On May 15, 1908 an elec-tion was successful for the corporation of the Town of Harrah. The next step was to elect town officials. Harrah’s population was 100 on 1901 and tripled to 300 by 1905 and has steadily grown to its present population of approximately 5,200. The City of Harrah is currently experiencing amazing growth with the addition of hundreds of home and new busi-ness developments. In June of 1992 by a vote of the people the Town of Harrah was officially changed to the City of Harrah.

Inside you can learn all about Harrah’s history including exhibits on Polish heritage, famous Harrah citizens, as well as look through vari-ous books and records on Harrah families.

Harrah Public Schools
The Harrah School District is a distinguished district that is just 20 min-utes from downtown OKC and resides in the eastern part of Oklahoma County. It is a very short drive to Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City. The district has over 64 square miles that covers 3 different coun-ties. Boundaries of the school district encompass & parts of the corporate city limits of Choctaw, Newalla, McLoud and parts of Oklahoma City.
It’s the home of over 2,100 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12th. We have more academic and athletic scholarship winners each year than any other district it’s size in the area. It’s the largest employer in the community and has a very strong relationship with it’s community. Our district employs 166 certified staff and 95 support staff.
The district believes that all students deserve a safe and nurturing envi-ronment, a core curriculum that is rich and rigorous and respects diver-sity in students’ learning styles. We have one guiding principle: Excellent Instruction in Every Classroom. We strive for our students to be profi-cient in all curricular areas.
Harrah is the home of three elementary sites: Virginia Smith Elementary (Pre-K thru 1st grade), Clara Reynolds Elementary (2nd & 3rd Grades) and Russell Babb Elementary (4th & 5th grades). We have two sec-ondary sites: Harrah Middle School (6th-8th grades) and Harrah High School (9th-12th grades). The teacher-pupil ratio average 1 teacher for every 17.5 students.
The most recent bond election allowed the district the opportunity for the most up-to-date technology and global connections of any district in the area. Our students have direct access to applications and tools that will foster their imagination and make them successful in an ever chang-ing environment. We encourage visitors and prospective patrons to stop by and see the wonderful things our district is doing.

Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center plays a vital role in the continued growth and economic development of the area by providing quality technical and career training to individuals from the five communities compromising its district.
DAYTIME PROGRAMS serve high school and adult students from the Harrah, Choctaw, Jones, Nicoma Park, and Luther com-munities. Technical programs include Business & Technology Education, Health Sciences, and Trade & Industrial Training. All daytime programs offer industry related certifications, while many provide students with opportunities for college credit. Each pro-gram area works with industry to ensure student skills meet current and future demands for a qualified workforce.
BUSINESS & INDUSTRY SERVICES encompasses a wide range of programs, classes, and services as well as operating EOC Tech’s Fire Academy. Area businesses are provided assistance through small business management program, bid assistance for securing government contract, and customized course development and training. EOC Tech provides companies workforce development training for expanding current operations and those locating to the area. The business and industry services division has the capacity to assist any company with their training and productivity needs.
ADULT CAREER DEVELOPMENT courses range from specific certification classes for individuals desiring to expand and increase their job skills to special interest classes designed to promote personal development. The classes include computer skill develop-ment, health related certification courses, fire/EMT training, and trade industrial programs. Special interest offerings include exer-cise/wellness courses, visual arts, and others to promote individual personal development.

Harrah ParksHeritage ParkYears ago the leaders in the City of Harrah realized that something was needed to bring a greater sense of community. To fill that need, Heri-tage Park, which had previously been a lagoon, was transformed into an exciting recreation area. A fishing pond, playground areas for children, covered pavilion with concession facilities, benches throughout the park, walking trails, restrooms, a splash pad, and an amphitheater with state-of-the-art lighting and sound make Heritage Park an exciting destination within our community.

Heritage Park plays hosts to a number of annual events which include “Harrah Day,” “Harrah Live,” “Movies in the Park,” “Market in the Park,” “Pigs in the Park,” “Relay for Life,” and “Bark for Life.” Heritage Park is a great place for people of all ages to enjoy a great time.
Lions ParkNestled a short distance from the schools, Lions Park has a pavilion, re-strooms, playground, disc golf course and a lovely park setting perfect for family gatherings or a quiet picnic. Lions Park is the site of the annual Lions Disk Golf Tournament.
