Harrington ToSpeak t N. Kannapolis The Rev. Ray W. Harrington, pastor of the Coldwater ~t Church of Concord, will be the pulpit guest at the North Kanna- polis Baptist Church at 7:30 p. m. today. He is the fifth in the series of eight pulpit guests that are speaking in the evening services of the North Kannapolis Church since that congregation recently entered its new sanctuary and educational building. The pulpit guests have been former pastors ar men that have entered the mini try out of the church's membership. Rev. Harrington was licensed to the ministry by the North Kannapolis Church on March 11, 1934 and was ordained on September 29, 1965. He is a graduate of J. W. Cannon High School, Wake For- est College, and the Southwest- ern Baptist Theological Semi- nary, Fort Worth, Texas. Sr., 82-year-old resident of Shoreline Loop, M'.ooresville, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 1995, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville. Born in Alexander County on Jan. 9, 1913,Mr. Harrington was a son of the late Augustus E. (Gus) Harrington and Bessie Teague Harrington. Mr. Harrington, a graduate of 1 Wake Forest University, attended Southwestem Theological Semi- nary in Fort Worth, Tex. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Harrington pastored for 63 years , serving numerous Baptist Churches. At the time of his death, Mr. Harrington was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moores- ville, where he was active in the XYZChoir. Mr. Harrington was preceded in death by bis wife, Ora Lee Walker Harrington, on Feb. 11, 1994, and two brothers, Charlie and Hall Harrington. Surviving are: one son, Ray Wil- liam Harrington Jr. of Cary; one daughter, Mrs. Derenda H. Abbott of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Claude Harrington and Ned Ha r- rington, both of Kannapolis; and four sisters, Mrs. Wrenn Rhodes, Mrs. Beauford Swift and Mrs. Ora L. Hannah, all of Kannapolis and Mrs. Helen Bowman of Thomas- ville. Three grandchildren also survive . Funeral services for Mr. Har - rington were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday,Jan.17, 1995, at the First Baptist Church in Mooresville , with the pastor, Dr. E. Harvey Rogers, officiating . The Rev. Ray W. Harrington, pastor of the Coldwater ~t Church of Concord, will be the pulpit guest at the North Kanna-polis Baptist Church at 7:30 p. m. today.

Local church leaders ke holy land tour

The church is sponsoring the minister and his wife on the U~day tour and the Rev. Thurman Stone of Charlotte is host.

The group today is touring the Jerusalem area, the' Old C it y itseH, Garden of Gethsemane, Mount of Olives, then to Bethlehem, Jerico, the Jordan River and the Dead Sea. .

Over the weekend thay will v i s i t Samaria, Galilee, Capemaum and Nazareth, then up the coastal area to Haifa.

The tour will also take in Athens and Corinth, Greece, both c i t i e s oQ).entioned prominently in New Testament activities.

The Rev. Mr. Stone, host for the tour, is a former pastor of First Baptist Church here and has served as pastor of C a I v a r y Baptist Church, Charlotte, for the past seve years.
