guarantee provisions

Focus Lifestyle has great confi dence in its products and offers excellent guarantee provisions. For Grand Hall barbecues, a guarantee period of 2 years applies from the date of purchase. If a manufacturing defect becomes apparent within this period of 24 months then we guarantee that the defective component will be replaced or repaired at no charge.

Specifi c characteristics of the guarantee provisions:

5 year guarantee against damage to stainless steel components from rust-through•

2 year guarantee against rust-through for parts fi nished in enamel •

2 year guarantee against rust-through for coated parts•

1 year guarantee on accessories•

all rights based on the guarantee become null and void if:

The product is not assembled and installed in accordance with the instructions•

The product is used improperly•

Scratches, dents, damage, discolouration etc. occur due to heat and aggressive cleansing agents •

The product is used for commercial purposes and / or is rented out•

The product suffers damage from the forces of nature•

Burn spots occur due to improper maintenance and / or cleaning of the grill (for example due to grease / fat •

remaining behind and burning)

The gas hose is not properly installed; if no leak test is performed as shown in Instruction manual•

The grill has been converted for use with natural gas; unless factory built or converted by Focus Lifestyle•

The product is not being used in the country where it was purchased due to the applicable guidelines in that •

Damage results from use or from third parties•

All warranty coverage excludes grill paint loss or rusting (except rust-through) which are either expendable parts that can wear out from normal use in less than two years, or are conditions that can be the result of normal use, accident or improper installation or maintenance.

To make a claim based on the guarantee, the purchase receipt must always be provided.

Focus Lifestyle keep a large number of spare parts in stock in order to deal with claims quickly and effectively. However, if a spare part is not in stock Focus Lifestyle reserves the right to send a similar part to resolve the problem.

Always follow manufacturer’s instructions when using a barbecue.1.

what does mj/h stand for?

Mj/h (Millijoule per hour) measures how much gas a burner can consume. Generally speaking, a higher Mj/h rating means a hotter burner.

what is the difference between direct and indirect cooking?

Direct cooking is the traditional barbecue method. It is when food is cooked directly on the grid or plate with the lid open.

For indirect cooking food can be placed on cooking grids or the warming rack. The burners directly under the food should be turned off, while the burners to the sides of the food are on. Indirect cooking must be done with the lid down. By closing the lid, hot air is kept in and surrounds the food much like an indoor oven.

what type of stainless steel does grand hall use?

Stainless steel comes in different grades. Each grade of stainless steel is designed for certain applications and priced differently based on the recipe of the elements. 304 grade stainless steel contains 18-20% chromium and 8-10% nickel. It resists corrosion, and performs well at high temperatures.

Another high quality stainless steel is 430. 430 grade stainless steel contains 16-18% chromium and less than 1% nickel. To prolong the life of 430 grade stainless steel Grand Hall has applied a special transparent coating that protects the stainless steel against harsh weather conditions.

which materials are best for certain accessories?

Accessories, from grillplates to hotplates, often come in different materials. When selling accessories it is important to know the advantages of each material as each one has its own purpose.

STAINLESS STEEL is an alloy which is more resistant to staining and rusting than ordinary steel. Stainless steel is easy to clean and has a long life span.

PAINTED CAST IRON is an alloy which absorbs and retains heat effi ciently. It can be diffi cult to clean if not looked after properly, but will last a long time when cared for, however it is prone to rusting. Cast iron is good to cook with and is well priced.

PORCELAIN COATED CAST IRON, like painted cast iron, handles heat effi ciently. It is also easy to clean and looks good. The porcelain coating protects the cast iron against rusting.

what are fl ame tamers?

On tube burner barbecues, fl ame tamers protect the burners from drippings, preventing sudden fl are ups. Flame tamers are only used in combination with a grid, not a hotplate. Our new products contain Crossray® infrared burners which are mounted on the sides of the fi rebox. Crossray® infrared burners do not have fl ame tamers because there is no possibility of the drippings touching the burners.

what is rotisserie cooking?

Rotisserie is a style of cooking where the meat is skewered and revolves over heat. There are no set rules to using a rotisserie system; you can use the indirect cooking method, the back burner or a combination of both. At Grand Hall we recommend a ratio of 80% indirect cooking time and use the infrared burner for the last 20%, grilling to golden brown perfection. The main burners can still operate when the back burner is on to maintain the desired cooking temperature.

tips for rotisserie

Rotisserie cooking is an attractive way of slow-cooking. The meat rotates slowly over heat, providing juicy and fl avourful foods. There are no set boundaries for rotisserie cooking, but using these guidelines you will be able to make delicious poultry, beef and pork dishes.

Make sure the meat is well balanced on the rod and secured using the skewers. This is important for 1.

turning evenly and therefore cooking evenly. You can test this by slowly turning the rotisserie in your hands.

Bones or wings sticking out too far will brown faster, maybe even turning black. For bones or wings 2.

browning too fast, you can use aluminum foil for protection.

Generally, rotisserie cooking is done with the hood closed for a period of time ranging from 45 minutes to 2 3.

Using the back burner during the last 20 or 30% of rotisserie cooking time will give your meat a nice golden 4.

The Grand Hall patented Crossray® infrared burner system is changing the way we grill. This revolutionary technique employs infrared burners (surface combustion burners) providing a uniform cooking surface. It cooks with the intensity of charcoal but with the convenience of gas. Crossray® is simply a better, faster and more energy-effi cient way to grill. Exclusively available at Grand Hall with international patents on the technology, Crossray® technology is featured in the T-Grill and DS-Grill.

how it works

The gas burners are located in the walls of the fi rebox. These surface combustion burners emit infrared heat which is angled onto the cooking surface.

even heat

A traditional gas barbecue has hot spots and cool spots depending on where the tube burners are beneath the grill plates. With Crossray® technology the infrared rays have been positioned so the infrared heat evenly covers the entire cooking surface. Therefore the Crossray® has even heat over the grill plates with less chance of heat variance.

effi cient gas usage & hotter

With traditional gas barbecues the tube burners require a large amount of oxygen for air combustion. When the burners are ignited, they suck in oxygen from outside the fi rebox through many ventilation holes. This lowers the inside temperature making the burners less effi cient.

However, Crossray® uses surface combustion burners so there is no open fl ame within the fi rebox. Surface combustion burners require less secondary airfl ow to burn effi ciently. Therefore the fi rebox has less ventilation (nearly completely sealed). Since there is only a small amount of ventilation in the fi rebox, there isn’t the possibility of heat escaping creating a hotter fi rebox and a more effi cient barbecue.

We have calculated that the Crossray® uses 25% less gas than a traditional barbecue to produce the same heat.

But because most consumers would enjoy a hotter barbecue, we increase the gas fl ow to achieve a hotter cooking surface. When comparing the DS-Grill (60mj) to the Connoisseur 4 (68mj), the DS-Grill uses 13% less gas, but the temperatures it reaches are 20% hotter!

less chance of fl are-up’s and smoke

A traditional gas barbecue has burners located directly beneath the cooking surface, so any fat will drip directly onto the tube burner. When the fat is ignited by the fl ame, it can create fl are-ups which can char your food and create smoke. Crossray® burners are located in the walls of the fi rebox so it’s impossible for fat to drop onto the burners, minimising the chance of smoke and fl are-up’s.
