Hasselblad Technical Data Hx/HxD Firmware upgrade via Phocus

Phocus version 1.1 or later

Firmware updating procedure for Digital Magazines via the Phocus software Firmware update is made available in the Phocus software, from version 1.1 Mac and 1.0.2 Windows. 1. Unzip the downloaded file. 2. Make sure your camera is turned on. 3. Connect your complete camera with digital magazine, lens and viewfinder via Firewire to Phocus. 4. Go to "File" and then "Update Firmware" and locate the desired firmware package (.cim) on your computer, and click "Update".

5. Follow the instructions provided from the software carefully! Do not switch off the camera during the update process, until specifically requested by the Phocus software.

6. When the update has been finalized, please check that the firmware has been updated and that your equipment works ok. It is important that the camera is shut down completely when the Firewire cable is removed otherwise the procedure might fail.

Firmware upgrade for H1, H2, H2F - H1D, H2D, H3D, H3DII We are now able to perform upgrades and downgrades of firmware on the Hx and HxD camera bodies. There will be a dedicated upgrade file for each product (camera body and digital magazine) and they cannot be interchanged. You can upgrade from any early version of firmware, as an example updating from FW 1.0.1 to 2.1.0 on an H3DII

• Confirm that the battery in the H camera is at 90% to 100% charge. Press and hold the “Illumination” button above the On/Off button on the H handgrip for battery status. • If using a laptop confirm that the Laptop is connected to a power supply.

The following is a step-by-step instruction for upgrading the firmware in the Hx or HxD cameras.

1. Connect the back to the Hx or HxD. IMPORTANT! H2: upgrade using CFH, CF, CFII, H3D digital magazine. H2F: CFH, CF, CFII, H3D digital magazine. H2D: upgrade using H2D digital magazine. H3D/H3DII: upgrade using H3D digital magazine. When using an H3D digital magazine on an H2 or H2F camera a message will appear stating “Module not compatible”, you can still perform a firmware upgrade.

2. Open Phocus version 1.1 or later (1.1 is the minimum version required for the firmware upgrade feature.)

3. Go to the File window and select Update Firmware.

4. Locate and highlight the 081222.hbf file on your hard disk and click Update. Notice that the 081222.hbf file incorporates firmware for all H models.

5. Make sure to detach the viewfinder and lens from the body. A window will come up reminding you to do so. “Service mode 1” will be indicated on the H LCD display on the grip.

6. A Window will appear saying “this HBF-File was

created: …” Click OK. Once you click OK, Phocus will “Verify firmware file please wait …”

7. The firmware updater will run three steps in the process: “Firmware upgrade (Part 1) in progress…” This will take approximately 4 minutes.

“Firmware upgrade (Part 2) in progress…” This will take approximately 20 seconds.

“Firmware upgrade (Part 3) in progress…” This will take approximately 35 seconds.

8. The last window to be displayed is “Upgrade completed successfully” Click OK.

9. You can verify the Firmware by using the following steps:

the top left. The primary Firmware for the CF/HxD Digital Magazine is the second number located on the top right.
